Very curious WM6 question!?

Copy one of the home.xml files from \Application Data\Home

Remove the <carrier/> tag, replacing it with whatever text you want to show up next to the clock. For example, <text>U WISH U WERE COOL LIKE ME</text>

yeah can't get this to work. tried a few different .home files. and saved them again as xml. but after restart nothing changes, am i missing a step?

wonder if wm6 has different files? most of the steps say to use homescreen.home or something and i dont have that. what whatever really not to worried about it.

Da G has indicated that this version is dated 9/11/07 but that from what he can see so far there is not Internet Share.

integra, can you check Start->Applications->File Explorer-> (Hit Up Left Soft Key)
Scroll down to Windows and press OK -> Hold down key for over 30 seconds till you get to the files that start with I and look for file named "Internet Sharing" (they are in alphabetical order). Note what does the symbol to the left of it look like and what happens when you press OK while it is highlighted?

icon is a paper with windows logo, basically a broken icon or missing icon i assume. clicking on it shows an error message saying it cant find ':MSINTERNET_SHARING'.

Its a program that is a beneficial/preferred method of allowing the Blackjack to act as a modem for say a laptop when you are out and about, connecting you to the AT&T data network whereever you get a signal, including 3G when present. Many copy the file or its icon to the startup menu so its handy and then you can connect the BJ to your laptop or PC via USB or Bluetooth and generally your laptop or PC detects it and you are quickly on the Internet. There is another way to have a USB modem connection but then the BJ is not charging or powered via the connection and drains. It takes more steps and so many really want the Internet Share back in the final final version.

Do the same thing on your room mates WM5 Blackjack, it will open the application. To copy/paste his Shortcut icon to startup I think you have to do this via ActiveSync connection using File Explorer?

So far nobody has found a way to make this work on WM6 versions.

It allows yo to connect your BJ to your laptop and grab an ip and get internet access from your BJ

None of us who have tried these WM6 versions have or can so far, and we are sure hoping that the final version when out has it back in. There is an April version, then a June version, and now yours is by far the most current we have seen given its September 11, 2007 date. It is in other new Mobile 6 phones, so there is hope. Try it (Internet Sharing) on your room mates, then copy/paste the Shortcut Icon to the startup menu for quicker/earier access when needed.

You can go to Start -> Settings -> 6 Connections -> 4 USB -> then select "Modem" to do it the other way, but you have to put in the dial up characters and numbers in your dial-up on your computer, I don't have it right now, but I have done it on both WM5 and 6, so it can be done on yours, but the battery won't be a charging, and its just more steps, we hope they fix it!

Since you guys seem to know so much about internet on blackjack, i have a few questions that i cant seem to understand the terminology to the answer. I know its off topic but we're just waiting...

So if i have a wireless access point at my house, and no data plan, can i get on the internet?

Can i do this for free using my home connection?

what about via usb?

Not that I am aware of because it sounds like you would need a Wi-Fi connection and the BJ has none, unless Spectec come thru someday with a microSD unit. I heard some were trying to piggy back it via a bluetooth connection from a connected PC as opposed to sharing the Wireless Router, but not sure they did it?

thats what i was wondering. AT&T is sbc, who is my provider. it only seems fitting that i could take it from their network. my wireless supports everything including N. Does a phone run on A?

I've been having no luck downloading SGH_i607_UCGF1 from rapidshare

keep getting

Read error at byte 33504400/86469651 (Connection reset by peer)

The byte changes a little bit but is always around the 33MB point. Tried different machines and different browsers (that output is from wget on linux).

Even signed up for a pay account on rapidshare.. still no joy.

What is the status of getting the dumped (9.11.07) version going? should i go to bed and try again tomorrow or is it coming and i should just sit tight?
