Very curious WM6 question!?

Just recently within the last few days purchased a blackjack. Here's the tricky part, the box and everything say's the phone has WM5 installed. When i opened the box and turned on the device i was shocked to notice that the phone has WM6 Standard installed on it. I mind you this is a regular i607 blackjack, not a blackjack 2 or anything.

I purchased the phone on ebay, it's brand new and was still in plastic wrapping. Phone was never turned on. Luckily it worked out nice for me, i won the auction and picked the phone up locally. The guy said the phone was bought as a company phone. But they soon switched to Black Berry's so he never used this device. I actually dont think he ever knew WM6 was on this phone.

My question to you is, is this rare? Should this be on the phone? It looks straight from AT&T. With an AT&T default background and all. I'd be more than happy to show pictures of this for proof.

Aside from that mystery, im also having a problem locating .cab files on the phone. I know that smartphones do not come with a file explorer like the pocketPC does. So how do you install any type of .cab file if you cant locate it? Even if i make a new folder which shows up, there are never any files in the folder. Any help would be great thank you!

It's not brand new they flashed it to WM6 used it for awhile (likely) then did a hard reset then repackaged it 'carefully'.

wel what you can do is this:

To check the software version, enter the following information on the phone:
*#1234#

if it comes up as i607UCGD2 then it's probably not a "Brand new" phone, maybe lightly used. When they flashed it to the BETA version of Windows Mobile 6 which AT&T wouldn't do.

Alrighty, entered the 1234 number and the phone says.. PDA:i607UCGI3 & Phone:i607UCGI3. So different than the numbers someone said above. Also another thing is the fellow i bought it off said it was bought by his work as a company phone. There is a sticker on the outside of the box that say's where the phone was sold to i think. "Customer : Microsoft Corporation" is what it says.. Weird..

Windows Mobile 6 Standard CE OS 5.2.1437 (Build 17944.0.3.1)
Radio Version i607UCGI3, RIL Version 2.002.

I hope this will maybe aid someone in helping me solve this WM6 mystery..lol

Hmm. That's interesting. It's very possible you have here an official version of WM6, since the codes you have don't match our beta ones. Try to dump the ROM to the computer and post that. Don't ask me how to do it, I'm not sure. Even try getting the seller to send you the ROM, citing it for backup purposes.

Don't sweat the Vista thing yet, just get the ROM up here first. I will provide bandwidth to host this thing if necessary.

Yes, definetly. Because I doubt AT&T is in any rush to distribute the official upgrade.

Yeah, see i knew something might have been weird about having mobile 6. I dont know how to go about putting the ROM on the comp, from the phone. So until then i cant promise anything..

Finally received email from previous owner. The mystery is over, he said he has friend that works for Microsoft. And had him update the phone, but he ended up never using the phone after he got it back. And now i have it. But in no way am i mad about it, i see it as a perk. It's something i would have tried to get on it anyways. haha
