Flashing & Debranding with SETool 2 Lite

mine worked but then the font is ginormous! can someone help? my brother says it's bc the files listed here are old and i need newer files, how do i get newer files??? pls help

Was able to get the issue resolved, not by just reflashing with the included files, I eneded up with the sae result when I tried that. I definitely was an issue with outputting the display incorrectly, maybe it didnt recognize the revision of the hardware.

What fixed it was flashing it with the debranded firmware, and then using the firware update tool from the Sony-ericsson website that updates you to the latest version of whichever firmware is already loaded on your phone.

it detected the asian firmware, and updated it to latest version of it.

where di dyou get your debranded firmware?

hi guy you can find any firmware on this site (http://www.topsony.com/forum/cmps_in...page=Firmwares) , and just to correct an information the cid 53 is a protected cid, so you can't flash it but with a patch which you can find in topson.com you cad do it after patching .

hello so my w580 is flashing a red light on the side and wont turn on and read that flashing could solve the problem however i have tried this method but fails because it says red phone is red retail or something and also states "cid 53" i also tried the whole unlock/repair button but itt says "RECOVERY might be needed" some one please help me!!

I'm not sure I understand how... SETool2lite doesn't have the c510a listed, nor am I able to find those files you need (on that .ru website) for the c510a... any help? I have browsed through this topic and some others and didn't find an answer... probably missed it, can anyone help me?

If I can find those three files though , and use them with the setool2lite, that's all I do? Follow the instructions, it almost seems to easy... lol

Hmpf... I have the SEMC flash installed, when I connect the phone it said SEMC flash drive detected, it installs, then tells me it did so succesfully.... next time I connect the phone it doesn't do anything though. The computer just gives the beep that I plugged something in. Can I use the SETtool2lite with this? It's not recognizing my phone, nor is it listed. Eventually I just let go of C and the computer recognizes the phone as phone and pops up the menu...

Not finding much info on how to flash a c510a either...

So much the wiser since last post, guess I shouldve waited a little longer since last post! I've figured out how to debrand with a2uploader,

I actually have to press 2+5, not C, btw if anyone else out here is having trouble with connecting the c510a!

Got a question about firmware tho, for firmware I got
Main: C510_R1EA030_MAIN_GENERIC_KT_RED53.mbn
Fs: C510_R1EA030_FS_AMERICA_RED53.fbn

for cust pack I got
AND C510A_1221-1192_R4A_CUSTOMIZED_GENERIC_LAM_(B)

but apparently the cust needs to match the fs??? Or will this work, I cant seem to find a cust pack and an fs to match for my c510a? ANy suggestions?

trojan horse detected by anti-virus in setool2lt.exe inside archive setool2lite.rar from setool2flashingguide.rar... files were posted long time ago, i guess then antiviruses were not aware of the virus.. now it's being detected! i have tried setool2lt.exe before from another source never got any problems running it, now this is the first time i downloaded setool2lt.exe from megaupload because someone uploaded there.

if my antivirus is acting up then i guess i blame it but i prefer the antivirus to act up to not act at all in case of a real virus! avg internet security latest!

do i have to click the identify button? and then debrand it?....because i just hit debrand but its taking forever, its been like 15 minutes and nothings happening, the bar keeps going on at the bottom

my sim card and memory chip are out and it says insert smart chip on the screen, but i read earlier to take my sim card out to debrand the phone..i held c and connected the usb yet it isn't showing up as SEMC flash device on the computer...should i put the sim card back in the phone?

i deleted sony ericsson pc suite but its still not showing up as the SEMC flash device

finally found the solution


Ok i finally found out how to unbrand my phone (SE W580i). It was much more easier this way.
1. press flash and press C and plug in your phone to the computer
2. If it does not find it, let go of C and take out you battery and unplug your your phone from the computer.
3.Put the battery back in after about 2 seconds and press C and plug in your phone.
4.Your computer should recognize your phone as something like "SEMC Flash Device" or something along those lines.
5. Then its pretty strait forward from there. Just follow the instructions and install the device and the flashing will begin.

Thats how it worked for me!!!!!
