Yes, you lose your warranty...only if Rogers see your phone unbranded.
It's very easy to do this stuff. You need only the correct firmwares and custom and upload them as it says. And do your GDFS backup first.
There's always risk like energy cut, or pc failure that could damage your phone, but that's not related to flash.
And if you want your Rogers stuff again, just flash it again with Rogers custom.

Thanks Griffin for the great instructions--debranding went off without a hitch. However, I am not able to do MMS either. The link you provided gives a "No settings available for the current selection." when you fill in the menus for USA-->ATT--> W580i. Any thoughts?
