Looks like N95 has Accelerometer too.

check allaboutsymbian. level sensor, and now there is an accelerometer which is being taken advantage of from the link on AAS.

EDIT: there is a sample .sis file for download which demonstrates a "moving ball" on the screen, which uses the accelerometer.

wow the demo app of this moving ball is very very accurate. guess its supposed to be. you can move the phone all around, like you are trying to balance a ball on the screen. it even lets you "bounce" the ball.

I just d/l this and I'm very surprised how accurate it is... I wonder how much battery it eats as it would be so cool to have a real-time animation in the background or to detect when u finisk making a call etc

i'm amazed at the accuracy. You know i remember at the la party the n95s had some ngage demo games on them, and one me the developers was there. He helped design the fishing game that was on the phone. Now that i think about it, the game used motion to play. I bet it used this sensor. Maybe this is why we are now learning about this feature. The allaboutsymbian site said to not spread this around. Maybe i shouldn't have posted this?

See this post: http://www.howardforums.com/showpost...5&postcount=18 for an explanation of the two types of motion sensors that are common today. There is no such thing as a "level sensor", except for a few mechanical devices more commonly referred to as "limit switches" that use mercury, steel balls, etc. to detect some pre-defined physical position. These devices are bulky by modern standards, and thusly would not fit very well into a cell phone, leaving electronic accelerometers and gyroscopes as the only feasible options for mobile hardware development.

here's a link to the nokia research app. its like sports tracker, it will track your sports activities with the accelerometer.

how about a game first person shooter? or use this function similar to a mouse? how about marble madness, moving the phone to play the game? possibilities are endless.

Sure wished we could find this file which doesn't show as "corrupt" on the N95's

Anyone find a link to a "working copy"?
