    Okay, I've been frustrated that I can't use IE (PIE, I guess) with my 5.99 t-zones. TM CS says I can't do that.

    I see here that some settings from the Dash faq worked. Was it just creating a new proxy?

    I did use from the faq:
    Connections->Proxy->T-mobile:
    Connects from: WAP Network
    Connects to: The Internet
    Proxy: 216.155.165.50:8080
    Type: HTTP

    Was that all? I am stuck at the moment since t-zones hasn't been working for several days in Denver. The WAP browser is rather useless since I can't enter any URL and can only use links I've bookmarked online at My T-Mobile.

    Incidentally, I didn't realize there was this WM forum for T-Mobile. I'll try to go through more threads.

    you're on the right track, you need to do ALL THREE steps for internet to work

    you already did this:

    Start Menu -> Settings -> Connections -> Proxy -> T-Zones Proxy setup
    Connects from: WAP Network
    Connects to: The Internet
    Proxy (name : port): 216.155.165.50:8080
    Type: HTTP
    User name: <blank>
    Password: <blank>

    you still need to do this:

    Start Menu -> Settings -> Connections -> GPRS-> T-Mobile Data
    Connects to: WAP Network
    Access point: wap.voicestream.com
    User name: <blank>
    Password: <blank>
    Primary DNS: 0.0.0.0
    Secondary DNS: 0.0.0.0
    IP address: <blank>

    Start Menu -> Internet Explorer -> Tools -> Options -> Connections
    "Automatically detect settings" is unchecked
    Select network: The Internet (Must be set to "The Internet" to work over WiFi. Try "WAP Network" if you're having trouble over the EDGE/GPRS connection)

    Okay, I rebooted the Shadow and also found the options for PIE and unchecked the auto network select option. Now, in the browser, going to one to of favorites, I get past the "Locating..." status and get to "Opening...", but I eventually get to "The server could not resolve your request for uri:/".

    I also changed my T-Mobile Data in GPRS connects to WAP (from Internet).

    Any other thoughts?

    dinlong,

    Thank you! I had already done all of your suggestions, except I changed the PIE connections option to manually to "Internet" instead of "WAP'. I think I'm good to go. I appreciate the summary (made it easier to check for data entry errors).

    It looks like there are many things I can do to customize the Shadow, or make it more productive. I'm glad for these forums! I appreciate everyone's contribution.

    1. Connection > Advanced settings: all set to Automatic
    2. GPRS: delete all existing profiles and create two GPRS profiles where one connects to WAP and the other connects to WORK.
    3. PROXY: create two PROXY profiles where one connects from WAP to Internet and the other connects from WORK to the Internet.

    In IE:
    [x] Automatically detect settings
    Select Network: The Internet

    For email, they must be configured to connect via WORK.

    For some reason, the wap browser no longer works but IE does. Even the Live Search app works.

    So, with all these settings, (I haven't tried badbob001's suggestion yet, as I don't use e-mail and am not ready to give up the wap browser), does this affect how wifi works? I'm wondering if I clobbered a setting that would prevent me from using wifi's speed when available. How can I confirm that I get the fast data rates with wifi?

    Thank you.

    everything else I did step by step but that was the one step that was confusing.

    someone please help me out on this. im trying 2 configure this for a friend.

    Actually, the wap browser works for me now. I think the wap browser autodetects what connection setting to use and it did so correctly after I rebooted. Just make sure Menu > options > network shows the connection is to 'The Internet'. Before the reboot, the connection was referring to a gprs profile that I deleted.

    When I have wifi on, the browser will automatically go over wifi. I know because only when I'm on wifi can I get stream music from sites that don't support the http protocol or use emoze to sync my corporate email.

    Another issue is that I can't quite get the java component to connect to the internet. Say I go to the opera site to download opera mini 4. The java component will pop up but it'll fail to download opera. If I connect over wifi, I can download opera, but when I'm off wifi, opera can't connect to the net even with opera set to connect over http instead of socket. Grr.

    So can anyone help please? I did everything suggested in those steps and it wont work! I know the 5.99 works in our area cuz I have it in my Wing n it works great. I need step by step instructions for the shadow.

    This is what I tried to do based on previous posts:

    Start Menu -> Settings -> Connections -> Proxy -> T-Zones Proxy setup
    Connects from: WAP Network
    Connects to: The Internet
    Proxy (name : port): 216.155.165.50:8080
    Type: HTTP
    User name: <blank>
    Password: <blank>

    Start Menu -> Settings -> Connections -> GPRS-> T-Mobile Data
    Connects to: WAP Network
    Access point: wap.voicestream.com
    User name: <blank>
    Password: <blank>
    Primary DNS: 0.0.0.0
    Secondary DNS: 0.0.0.0
    IP address: <blank>

    Start Menu -> Internet Explorer -> Tools -> Options -> Connections
    "Automatically detect settings" is unchecked
    Select network: The Internet (Must be set to "The Internet" to work over WiFi. Try "WAP Network" if you're having trouble over the EDGE/GPRS connection)

    The first part is confusing to me. Did you create a new proxy called TZone proxy? When I went to that part of the settings, there was nothing called TZones proxy so I created a new one called that. Maybe the tzones wasn't activated yet? So when you go to connections---->proxy, there should be an option called tzones proxy to select? Or do you have to create a new one?

    Thank you!

    The names of the profiles are up to you (eg: "please work proxy"). Make note of any existing default proxy or gprs profiles, delete them, and then add your own.

    Opera mini 4 worked on my mpx220 on t-zones but it doesn't work on the shadow. Anybody got opera mini 4 working on t-zones? I couldn't even get the java component to download opera mini 4 unless I connected over wifi so it must be some problem with my connection settings and the phone's java component.

    Email on T-Mobile Shadow

    For those of you who are having trouble getting your email to work on your T-Mobile Shadow....you need to make sure that you create a work profile for your email account to connect to. Observe :

    -Start>Settings>Connections>GPRS>New

    -Name this profile T-Mobile Email

    -Connects to: Work

    -Access Point: wap.voicestream.com

    -Click done twice, and then click on Proxy

    -Select New

    -Name this profile T-Mobile Email

    -Connects from: WAP network

    -Connects to: Work

    -Proxy: 216.155.165.50:8080

    -Type: HTTP

    -Click Done, and head back to your email account settings.

    -In the 5th screen of the E-mail setup, click on Advanced Server Settings

    -Make sure that Network Connection is set to Work, and click done.

    -Finish the E-Mail setup

    -Attempt a send/receive

    Your emails should come right in. Now you all know that using the $5.99 t-zones for web browsing is against the terms of service, naughty people . BUT, when you pay for the $5.99 t-zones you are paying for unlimited email, so you need to make sure that you're able to get your emails and use the service you're paying for.
