    high capacity BL-5C

ok just got a nokia 6555. It uses BL-5C battery. Im not a big fan of this anti Korean phone company but I would like to get an extended battery for it. It seems that BL-5C is used on just about every Nokia phone made in the last 2 years. Im surprised that not many extended battery is made for those phones. A little digging shows that the some phones will fit the BL-6C which is only a bit thicker than the 5C. I've searched high and low for extended battery for the 6555 and only found 1 It claims to have 1200mah packed in the same size as the {BL-5C}. On the pictures there's no indication of 1200mah anywhere. Has anyone bought one? is it a true 1200mah battery?

I have this battery, but I don't notice much difference over regular (900mA/h)
however, I have a Momax brand X-level battery, it gives me a little bit more (30% more over 900mA/h)
    it claims 1100mA/h

Nokia has changed the specs on the {BL-4C} and the {BL-5C} over the past couple of years gradually increasing the mAh of each. For example, {BL-5C} used to be 850 mAh.

The current spec for {BL-4C}'s is 820 mAh and {BL-5C} is 970 mAh. This can be verified by searching for the specs of these batteries on the Nokia website. For example, here's the link to the current specs for the BL-5C http://www.nokia-asia.com/A4435095

Many wholesale storefront vendors that sell real original Nokia batteries still list the {BL-C5}'s they are selling as having 850 mAh capacity, but since they are generally selling new stock, I believe they have simply failed to update their description with the current specs and the {BL-5C} batteries they are selling in fact do have 970 mAh capacity.

Hope you find this info useful.

^ Please be a little accurate when quoting the battery model numbers from now on. http://www.nokiausa.com/A4431594

^ I hope I get your idea wrong but why would you call Nokia a "anti Korean phone company"? Isn't some 6555 made in Korea? https://fjallfoss.fcc.gov/prod/oet/f...ive_or_pdf=pdf

Anyway, I get your point about the batt. "matching" game. There've been other prime examples when Nokia decides to pair smaller capacity w/ feature-rich, power-hungry phones like N80, 6126/6131, 6120 classic, 3205i. Then there're entry-level, basic phones like 2125i, 6015i using BL-6C.

I won't recommend anyone to go for the aftermarket solutions, i.e. same dimensions that will fit like the original but the capacities are claimed to be much more decent! The truth is that some of those batt. do offer more juice..... at first, but the lifespan got shorten after just a year and ome of those batt. can't even hold charge by then.

I hate to bring 2 batt. along w/ me for those above-mentioned models but it's seems like a trend in Hong Kong when many ppl carry 2 batt. all the time for their N73, for example. Then we've got batt. cover "mod" to accommodate the thicker BL-6C. It's up to you.

^ No problem. Talking of upping the capacity, even the BL-6C has been improving:

I wish I could jam that BL-6C into my 6300. It would probably run for a week without needing a charge. But the BL-5C is pretty decent in that phone.

And I have been carrying one or two back up batteries for quite some time now. Since I carry a bag, I don't even notice that they're in there, but it's nice to know you have more power available in case you need it.

^ Yes, try to fit the thicker batt. in the thinner phones are becoming more tricky if not all impossible - for both engineers and "creative" end-users.

if you can make a homebrew cover, then yes
BL-6C is ALOT THICKER than 4C
    it's 6300, not 6630 or 6085, which is possible to use 6C\
I bought several "imported" BL-5Cs when I travelled in Hong Kong, they're 970mA/h
but officially warranted one is 1020mA/h

Its easy, use an angle grinder and grind that down BL-6C.

Warning: Actual life may actually be shorter than a BL-5C.

It's a joke as in Nokia is a Finland company. The name they chose happens to sound anti Korean as in No Kia. idk my friends always thought it was funny.

I ahve tried to fit a BL-5C onto my Nokia 6300 but I could not do it even though I have made some modification. In the end, I just gave up.

It really is quite simple. You just take a file and sand or shave down the side of the top near the contacts so the part with the contacts can fit and slide into the slot where the contacts are in the phone. You only have to take off about 1 millilmeters from a small strip of plastic near the end of the battery. It took me only 10 minutes with a sharp knife and a file. There are some very good pictures of a BL-5C that has been modified to fit in a 6300 in another thread in HF on the subject but I don't have the link handy.

According to Nokia, the current Nokia original BL-5C has only 970 mAh's as the following link shows: http://www.nokia-asia.com/A4435095 but that's still 150 mAh's more than the BL-4C.

So far I've only put one complete charge/discharge cycle on my new BL-5C in the 6300. It took three days to run it down to the point where the low battery warning came on. Didn't do much talking on the phone but I think that's still pretty good. I expect it will get even better after a couple more charge/discharge cycles.

By the way, I was able to purchase brand new genuine original Nokia BL-5C's that have the real hologram with the dots and scratch codes that passed verification on Nokia's battery verification site, for unbelievably low prices (as in less than US$6 shipped) from vendors that maintain storefronts on the Pricegrabber shopping site. Just be sure to buy from a vendor that has many good reviews (feedback).

The only real original batteries I saw on my recent stay in Thailand were quite expensive. The cheap ones I saw were all copies and they weren't as cheap as the originals that can be found on Pricegrabber.
