So I've attempted these steps but to no avail. I'm now stuck on the start screen with iPhone cable and CD showing. What steps could I possibly do to bring it back to 1.0.2? Or should I be patiently waiting for an unlock to 1.1.2?

You're on the right track! Just need to kick it out of restore mode.
Follow Geek's guide on how to kick it out of restore mode and you should be back to the main screen.
I can't seem to kick it out of restore mode...i've attempted those steps several times now. Everytime I run AppTapp it seems to fail on me. What am I doing wrong?

I had the same problem
I used this method to get out of restore mode
just download idemocracy and there should be a program called "iphuc-jailbreak.exe" or something.
In iPhuc, type these commands:
cmd setenv auto-boot true
then
cmd saveenv
cmd fsboot
and it should reboot. Although, I recommend running iBrickr as each time you reboot, you'll need to keep typing in those commands.
apptapp states send to iphone failed...
which one is supposed to be checked...1.0.0...1.0.1...or 1.0.2?!
Everything seems to fail no matter what.
iBrickr states iphone is not connected.
I've been struggling since yesterday and I'm now at the point where I want to use my iPhone as a weapon!

ok looks like im finally getting somewhere, thx for the help.
next question...how long will it sit at this for... Transferring files to your iPhone, this could take several minutes.
All I'm showing is cable and cd so far
