Maybe your iPhone is already unlocked, all you need to do is activate your sim
I had my finger on the trigger today, then I realized something. What if I restore my phone? How do I jail break it after restore? Do I need to downgrade, run oktoprep, and upgrade again? Everytime I restore?
ok...so I am about to do this...just one question.
Does this change the baseband ?
I just want to jailbreak and activate the phone. I don't want to Unlock it. And the most important thing - if something goes wrong during this whole process - would I simply be able to restore it to the virgin state?
My Phone was 1.0.2 (jail broken - never unlocked) and i upgraded by mistake to 1.1.2

You shouldn't have to change the baseband doing this. This will keep the baseband that is packed with 1.1.2.
And, as with any jailbreak, you can restore back to 1.1.2 and return to working order just without 3rd Party Apps.

This was posted to TUAW a day or so after the jailbreak posted and they say the used IPSF on 1.1.1 beforehand, but I guess it's still iffy: The FIRST iphone 1.1.2 UNLOCKED & WORKING!!!
when you open up anysim what is it suppose to do? it just kicks me back to springboard after sitting in anysim for about 2 mins
I have the exact problem!
You need to change a few of the files and give them permission 0755. Right click on say the anysim file in the folder and go to properties and then change the permission to 0755. I did that for a few random files and it worked like a charm.
ok so I have unlocked 1.1.1 with any sim 1.1 can i run oktoprep than update to 1.1.2 than run the new any sim and im good ?
no buddy, you're on the right track with regards to updating by first Installing Oktoprep but with regards to Unlocking, you have to downgrade to 1.0.2 or 1.1.1 after upgrading to 1.1.2 to unlock 1.1.2. Reason is because after downgrading, the baseband remains 04_02_13G which is 1.1.2's baseband. Since you're unlocking, you're flashing the new baseband hence after upgrading back to 1.1.2, the unlock remains as the baseband remains flashed
