I jailbroke mine using this process also. However, how would I restore if I needed to? If I restore in itunes does the oktoprep go away?

    Any help?

I followed the procedure. All worked well, my iPhone is now in French (very happy with that), but it does not recognize the SIM card. All is working except the phone! Help please!

Yup, if you restore it back it wont jail break you have to restore it back to 1.1.1 jailbreak that then install oktoprep then update back up to 1.1.2

    Ran into a little trouble...

Followed MacGeek's simplified tutorial, however was never able to Jailbreak the phone again at 1.1.1. I was fine at 1.0.2, but neither iNdependence or Jailbreakme.com would not work on 1.1.1.

I proceeded back to 1.0.2, where the phone remains unlocked from AnySIM1.2 and a baseband of 4xG. I was able to Jailbreak through iNdependence, but Apptapp will not install for nothing. I have tried over and over without success. I booted up ibrickr and it does not recognize the phone is connected.

Does anyone have any ideas what may be going on? I have reloaded 1.0.2 twice and tried 1.1.1 several times. Now I am at 1.0.2 with everything working, but not able to install Apptapp so I can get to tweaks for 'oktoprep'.

Almost seems as if the phone is not Jailbroken, but when I check independence it just gives me an option of returning to jail.

    Any ideas would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

You have to change the permissions on the any SIM files on the iPhone to 0755, then it will work.

have you even ran Anysim 1.2 and unlocked the iPhone?
This method just activates and jailbreaks 1.1.2, it doesn't unlock

What you could've done was on 1.1.1, you could've just restored 1.1.1, Usually after a restore, I get jailbreakme.com working.

So my suggestion would be to put it into restore mode, and then restore to 1.1.1 firmware, try jailbreakme.com to jailbreak, if you do not succeed in jailbreaking, just restore to 1.1.1 and re-try again.

    Help

    Hi,

I live in Sydney Australia and I recently bought an unlocked iphone with v 1.1.1. Few days ago I was quite stupid in clicking YES to an upgrade of my iphone while connected to itune. Now I have a locked phone with v 1.1.2.

I'm not very IT savy and reading everyone's posting I'm a bit confused. Is there a method of jailbreaking, activating and unlocking the phone? If yes (hooray), is there a clear set of instructions that I can follow to get my iphone back to its full functionality?

    Thanks everyone.

Well, what would you like your final outcome to be?

    Do you want a 1.0.2, 1.1.1, or 1.1.2 phone?

All 3 are possible right now with you situation...

Go Here: http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=1279705 - Find the section that starts with MILESTONE 1 (this is the upgrade section of the guide)

You are on Baseband 4.02 with 1.1.1? DFU again (do it twice) to 1.0.2, and run AnySIM 1.2.1u

Then find where your phone is: Milestone 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 (You should read the steps in Milestone 2)...

    Hi Drakkhen
Yes i am on 4.02 on 1.1.1 so im going to DFU again then goto 1.0.2 and run anySim 1.2? I already did this process so if im doing it again does it matter what sim card is in?

thanks again and i am looking at your milestone guide i will update tonight to let everyone know how it works

Yep go to 1.0.2 - DFU it twice - the first time, the phone always has a problem installing AppTappInstaller for some reason. if you DFU again, it fixes itself - you will get an error 1013 after the downgrade though, but you'll know that you are on 1.0.2 when you see the yellow triangle.

    Basically Here's a very high-level synopsis:

    A) 1.1.2 on 4.02 (Just getting 4.02 on the phone)
    - DFU Twice to 1.0.2
    B) 1.0.2 on 4.02 (So we can run AnySIM)
    - Jail / Activate
    - Install / Run AnySIM
    C) 1.1.1 on 4.02 (So we can apply Oktoprep and update)
    - Jail / Activate
    - Install Oktoprep
    - Update to 1.1.2 (UPDATE, do not 'restore')
    D) 1.1.2 on 4.02 (Updated, Prepped, Unlocked)
    - Jail / Activate

    Hope this helps!

Basically at one point or another, you need to get your phone in a locked state with 1.0.2 and baseband 4.02. If you have this already, you can skip it.

I just put those there a la the milestone guide so people know what state their phone is in and where to go from there.

The one thing you need to be careful of is if you have AnySIM 1.02 unlocked phone - because if you upgrade 1.1.2 or 1.1.1, you will brick your phone (IMEI 0049xxx...). If you did do this, there's a virginize process you need to deal with first before suing any of the guides...
