Basically after installing "Installer", tap on the icon, and update the program - you'll see under the Install section, you have a lot of things to install.
Community Services is in the "sources" category
BSD and Open SSH are in the "system" category
After installing SSH, your phone will basically become a portable wireless secure FTP server. You need a secure FTP client, and that's where WinSCP comes in. This is a windows program, and will allow you to connect to your iphone via IP address.
Once you've connected, the interface is quite similar to file explorer in windows.

After downgrading firmware to 1.0.2, when I try to [ACTIVATE] the iphone using wiNstaller, when I click ACTIVATE I get the following message:
Looking for restore files
Ramdisk: 009-7698-4.dmg
Kernelcache: kernelcache.release.s5l8900xrb
This version of iTunesMobileDevice.dll is not supported
Error initializing communications with iPhone.
Is this because my iTunes is version 7.5? How do I get this to work?
- how do you update Installer? Step F in Milestone 2.
- step J : copy the unzipped anySIM.app into the /Applications folder. Does this mean copy ALL the unzipped files from the anySIM1.2.1u.zip file or JUSTthe anySIM.app file?

Copy this into your winstaller folder (replace the old one)

Run Installer, and refresh the sources - a new version of installer should appear in the update section.
step J: you basically have a folder in your zip file containing files. Drag that folder out to your desktop. Rename it to anySIM.app, and then drag it into your /applications directory on the phone. Make sure to change permissions to all files in the anySIM.app folder on your phone after you copy it, or anySIM may not run correctly.
I all, I'm having a bit of a problem with unlocking.
I previously had a 1.1.1 unlocked phone. I then installed Oktoprep and then updated to 1.1.2. I jailbroke the phone and everything was ok, except the phone aspect.
I had downloaded anySIM 1.2, SSH'ed to my phone and coped the folder anySIM.app to the applications folder. I went into the folder and changed the permissions to 0755.
Rebooted the phone and began to run the unlock. Now the problem is it looks like it just keeps retarting at the apple logo and won't go any further. It has been this way for the past 10 minutes.
If you read (and I mean READ) all the guides out there - Not a single guide will ask you to jailbreak / unlock the way that you just did. Why? BECAUSE IT DOESN'T WORK.
Every upgrade invovles an intial upgrade to 1.1.2, then a downgrade back to either 1.1.1 or 1.0.2. This step is SO F'N ESSENTIAL that it's not funny.
The sooner that every gets this into their heads, the easier it will be to help everyone -
THIS IS WRONG - DO NOT DO IT:
- 1.1.1/1.0.2 - Install Oktoprep
- Upgrade to 1.1.2
- Download and run AnySIM 1.2.1u
Read the guides, UNDERSTAND the guides - They are there to help you.
Read ALL the guides? I was following this and it does not mention what you just posted.
Hmm...so instead of telling me what I did wrong, can you tell me what I can do to fix the problem?
Why would I want to do that???
Ok - right now - your phone is basically at a Locked state in 1.1.2 - sure you jailbroke it, but you can't do much after.
You'll want to downgrade to 1.0.2 or 1.1.1 and run anySIM from there against the 4.02 baseband. But I'm not sure if your AnySIM attempt at 1.1.2 did anything bad to it...
