I'm not sure how the O2 service works, but i think this is what you're stuck with -
A real unlock doesn't seem to be coming anytime soon - there was a propsed date of Dec. 1st, but I haven't heard any progress on that as of today, so I really don't know what to tell you... :\

Oh 1 more question please.. As all uk iphone (out of the box) come with 1.1.2 (03_04.13_g) well is this for USA too.. As i want to tell a friend fromthe USA to buy 1 and send it.. i no before you could unlock them but no that the new fimrware is out all shop will have the new fimware..
Basically after installing "Installer", tap on the icon, and update the program - you'll see under the Install section, you have a lot of things to install.
Community Services is in the "sources" category
BSD and Open SSH are in the "system" category
After installing SSH, your phone will basically become a portable wireless secure FTP server. You need a secure FTP client, and that's where WinSCP comes in. This is a windows program, and will allow you to connect to your iphone via IP address.
Once you've connected, the interface is quite similar to file explorer in windows.

Hi,
I'm at Mileston 3 and went into jailbreakme.com to install AppSnapp. Per the instructions I'm suppose to wait for a call back after its installation but nothing happens. Do you know why this is? I'm wondering if I didn't do any of the previous steps correctly.. one thing I did do differently to the instructions was use *#307# instead *#307* because I was getting Call Failed message. FYI - I still get the incorrect SIM message in the front - have I done something wrong?
Are you using the old guide? The new one doesn't require you to go to 1.1.1 - just go straight to 1.1.2 - it' much faster and reliable (both the firmware and the process).

MILESTONE 1 – iPhone @ 1.1.2 (upgraded), Baseband @ 4.02, not jailbroken, not activated, not unlocked *** THIS WILL NOT WORK FOR BNIB iPHONE WITH 1.1.2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- We are here because in order to unlock 4.02, we need it on our phone first.
- You can get to this milestone by either upgrading a 1.1.1 or 1.0.2 (unlocked by AnySIM 1.1 or higher) using iTunes. We are not here to unlock or jailbreak or even activate. We just want the baseband at 4.02
- *** If you are currently using 1.02 unlocked with AnySIM 1.0x or iUnlock, you will need to virginize (refer to definitions up to) your phone before you can do this or else your phone may become bricked.
MILESTONE 2 – iPhone @ 1.0.2, Baseband @ 4.02, jailbroken, activated, AnySIM 1.2.1u unlocked
- To get to this milestone, you need to do a few things. We need to run AnySIM 1.2.1u to unlock the 4.02 baseband, but we want to run it with the 1.0.2 firmware:
a) DFU (refer to definitions above) and connect the iPhone to iTunes.
b) Restore using [SHIFT] key + ‘Restore’ and select the previously downloaded 1.02 firmware. You WILL receive an error 1013 after the restore – this is perfectly normal. Now, DFU and restore AGAIN (on every phone I’ve done, it’s taken me 2 restores to get the desired effect)
c) Use AppTappInstaller.exe to kick your phone out of restore mode
d) If iTunes is not running, start it up and then use wiNstaller and [ACTIVATE] the phone
e) Use AppTappInsatller.exe again to install AppTapp Installer
f) Update Installer
g) Exit Installer, Connect to WiFi and set Autolock to [NEVER]
h) Install ‘Community Services’, ‘BSD Subsystem’ and ‘OpenSSH’ (NOTE: These are installed ON YOUR iPHONE, and not in Windows. Community Services just let's you 'see' OpenSSH, BSD Subsystem is a prerequisite for OpenSSH, and OpenSSH itself is a secure FTP server that lets you copy files between your iPhone and your PC).
i) Run WinSCP (You downloaded this earlier) and connect to your iPhone’s IP address (Either find it on your iPhone interface through SETTINGS->WIFI->(blue arrow on the right) or, go to your local router interface and find your iphone via it's MAC address - if you have no idea what I just said, use the first way )
j) Copy the unzipped anySIM.app into the /Applications folder. Drill into the anySIM.app folder and select all the files. Right-Click and select ‘Properties’ Change the permissions on the file (top right hand corner in the pop-up window) to enable ‘execution’, or simply type in 0755 in the box below the checkboxes)
k) RUN ANYSIM!!
MILESTONE 3 – iPhone @ 1.1.1, Baseband @ 4.02, jailbroken, activated, AnySIM 1.2.1u unlocked and prepped for an upgrade to 1.1.2
- This 3rd milestone is much shorter than the previous and involves a basic jailbreak of 1.1.1. We want to be at this state to run Oktoprep, so we don’t need to install any other software. This part should seem quite familiar to you started out with a jailbroken 1.1.1 phone.
a) DFU and ‘restore’ to 1.1.1 TWICE – again, just do it , and both times, you’ll get the 1.1.1 equivalent of the yellow triangle: THE IPOD CABLE!!!
b) Use good ol’ AppTappInsatller.exe (Choose the 1.0.2 option when prompted) to kick the phone out of restore mode, and you’ll see the very familiar activation screen.
c) Dial *#307* on your phone. The phone will ring. Answer it and then put it on hold. The phone will ring again. This time, decline it, and you’ll be show the dial-pad with the phone applications along the bottom of the screen
d) Tap on contacts and add two new contacts. For the first contact, type in ‘prefs://11’ in the URL link. In the second contact, type in ‘http://jailbreakme.com’
e) Go back and tap on the URL for [Contact 1], and you’ll be forwarded to your iPhone preferences. Connect to your WiFi network and for hell of it, set Autolock to ‘Never’.
f) Press the home key, and then slide to the emergency dial pad again. Dial ‘0’, and your phone should ring. Answer it, then tap ‘hold’, and then ‘decline’, and tap your way to the URL of [Contact 2]. Follow the on-screen instructions to jailbreak 1.1.1
g) When you’re done, you should have Installer on your springboard. Run installer, and under ‘Tweaks 1.1.1’, install Oktoprep.
MILESTONE 4 – iPhone @ 1.1.2, Baseband @ 4.02, unlocked
- Upgrade to 1.1.2 using iTunes. DO NOT use the ‘Restore’, as it will undo the Oktoprep, and you’ll basically have to start over.
- After the upgrade is complete, you’re done!!!!!
MILESTONE 5 – iPhone @ 1.1.2, Baseband @ 4.02, unlocked, jailbroken, activated
- Run the Jailbreak package software (In windows, just double-click the batch file). Please note that you’ll need Java runtime (http://www.java.com) for this jailbreak to work.
------------------------------
So are u saying I should skip Milestone 3 alltogether? Does that I have to restore to 1.0.2 and start again?
Also in Milestone 4 where it sayis upgrad to 1.1.2 - do I just click on CHeck for Update button in Itune?
