DoCoMo certainly won't do it. Until someone comes out with a hardware lock, the closest thing you'll get is a SIM hack, and that's not exactly a cakewalk.

    Question

I dont care how or how much. I just need it to work here.
    Eather with T-Mobile or Cingular.

How can I do it? What is needed? Where to get it?

I want that phone, Please tell me how I can get it to work here...
I want one phone to work here and in Japan when I will be going back and forth. I do not want to have 2 phones like I have now.

P.S. If I call Docomo Service Center, Will they even consider giving me the code?

They won't, because they don't know. Unlocking of Japanese phones has become essentially taboo since a couple of people have been arrested for doing the unlocking (apparently some obscure clause of copyright law covers this).

The SIM hack is a method that works (sort of- apparently there are issues with incoming calls/text so it's less than ideal) on the Softbank 904SH right now. It requires that you reprogram your SIM so that it tells the phone that it's a FOMA card first, then it will act like a normal SIM card of T-Mobile/Cingular after booting up. I have no clue how to do it, though, and it's fixed to one SIM.

If you really need one phone that works across Japan/USA, then I'd say switch to Softbank and get a 70xSC (or if you can't switch, get a M702iG). Those are unlockable with much less hassle.

    Question

Well. I really dont like any of there phones...

    This sux.

I guess, I will just get the phone and go from there.
At least I will have it infront of me so I can play with it and maybe call docomo and beg for mercy...

I have been looking for the sim hacks and they look not to hard to do. Just alot of technical work. Sounds fun.

Incoming calls and SMS. sence I do not want to recieve BOTH... I'm good.
Have to try to call Mitsubishi and see what they tell me.

    I've wanted a D905i too myself. I just can't get one because I

    A- can't find one
B- don't have enough money to buy one even if I found a place that sells it, most likely
C- don't have the technical knowledge to rework the Softbank SIM hack for DoCoMo

But, whoever can get past C will have a goldmine on their hands- the 905i series of phones is very impressive and I'm sure that demand outside Japan will be high.

Well, the stuff you'll need can be found at http://www.ye3g.com/shop/bbs/Dispbbs...Id=42&Id=10809 (you'll have to sign up an account to download the necessary SIM hack tools). You'll need a SIM card reader/writer, a FOMA card, a card from the provider you plan to be on in the States, and a blank card. I can't give any more help than that; I haven't tried it because I have no clue how.

Oh. I seen this done already... it looks easy to me.
But it was done to get an iPhone to work on T-mobile a while ago.

I will try to call Mitsu and Docomo and see if they give me the code before I attempt to do this.

Important question: are there any side efects on the phone from this?
Can it be unlocked with a real code later?

    P.S.
If anyone know or hears of a real unlock service for the Mitsubishi D905i. Please let me know.

No side effects to the phone since it's all done to the SIM. i-mode and e-mail may not work due to settings being locked to DoCoMo, but that's nothing to worry about unless you really need it. If an unlock service comes out later you could still use it (like people with SIM-hacks on their iPhones did when the software unlock came out).

I actually have a SIM card reader+writer (made by SIMMAX)

I also have a FOMA SIM card.

I also have a FOMA N900iG phone here.

If someone could translate the article's instructions I'd be willing to give it a go.

You have to download the attached file in the thread (registration required). Then run the sim-emu6.01 program. Under the "0" space fill in the IMSI of the provider you want to emulate (in this case, DoCoMo). Under the "9" space fill in the IMSI of your provider (SmarTone/Vodafone/T-Mobile/Cinguar/whatever). Under "ki" fill in your Ki (from your provider). Fill in "SMS center" with your SMS center number. Put a blank card in the reader/writer. Fill in "iccid" with 0. Fill in all other spaces with the same IMSI you used for the "0" space. Write into the SIM, then insert into your phone. Boot it up and bam, signal! Make a phone call.

Not done yet, though- Immediately after, pull the battery from your phone (yes, you're shutting down your phone the wrong way, but it has to be done). Then, in the "9" space, write in the same IMSI you used everywhere else. Then put it back in the phone. That's it. Depending on how the N900iG is locked, you may not have to do the second part. That's to bypass the 904SH's added security. It checks the IMSI every time you enter the menu, play Java games, etc so it has to report the Vodafone/Softbank IMSI then- problem is that at that time it'd be reporting your provider's IMSI to get a signal. That would fail the 904SH's check and cause the phone to reboot. That's why it was easier for the iPhone- it only checks the IMSI at boot time. The same may be true of the N900iG and the 905i phones- that it only checks at boot.

I hope I got that right. I also hope I'm not treading into forbidden territory on this forum for translating that article.

Thanks for the translation! Since this should work with any World Wing phone I'm also willing to give it a try as soon as I can. All I have to know now is where to get blank SIM cards. Any suggestions for that?
