On the 3GP videos- have you tried renaming them? If I remember correctly 3GP files have to be named in order- MOLxxx.3gp or something similar.
Oh, and does the FM radio tune all the way? I remember Japanese radio frequencies top out at 98.xMHz (and start in 7xMHz?) while most of the world goes up to 108.xMHz.
(and I'm just so indecisive about getting a DoCoMo phone- the F905i has a FM transmitter which I've always wanted and a SH905iTV-esque rotatable screen. On the other hand, the N905i has much better battery life playing music as well as a better camera with anti-shake. The P905i and SH905i aren't "unique" anymore- they're popping up all over, and the D905i is a slider so I worry about scratching the screen. Choices, choices.).

Thank you.
Just looking around for more info on it and to help others in making this info available.
not to mention getting it to work on my phone too...
wolvorine: Sorry to change subjects, but I had a question after seeing you go between US and Japan.
I'm currently in Canada, but go home every so often to the US. But I'm also starting to travel to Japan and was wondering if I could use the phone plus SIM workaround between North America and Japan. I'm not sure if I could just pick up a plan and phone, and swap cards into one of the 905i I plan to get. Do you know if it's possible? I would like to pick up the N905i soon and I plan to go to Japan this summer for quite awhile and from there every now and then. I hope that didn't sound as confusing as I think it sounds. haha
I'm sure you can. But it will be hard to nennect to the US network with the trick i'm working on.
Because The number i put in the sim is the Docomos network number and if you are in Japan I think it will NOT connect. Due to the Ki not bieng Docomos. But I'm not sure.
I had a friend get me service in Japan. Because of the new restriction. You have to be in Japan for a min of 90days to get service. I was only there for 30. I will be going back for 60 or more if I can (July and August) I can get more info on this.
Please post again, I'f I didnt answer your question. Its been a long night, so I cant think strait...
Update:
I just got the PSS Sim, I will try to rip the programming out of it and make it emulate Docomo. Thats after I try it first and see if the phone works witout any modding. Just want to check the IMSI in it now.
I Have some good news and some bad news...
Good News:
With the PSS SIM, I was able to use all the phone functions (Looks Like the IMSI Number in it was accepted by the phone)
Bad News:
No metter what I did, the phone FAILED to connect to any network.
I did a manual connection and the 2 services here in Phila (Cingular/ATT and Tmo) where X'ed out. Only Phone Functions Worked. nothing more. (it was like the phone was in SELF MODE)
Need more research on how the PSS sim is constructed and how it works. Unless the 905 series has a new security measure for PSS and sim hacking.
If there is such a thing, this will be the first time I heard of it...
Now this is getting interesting![]()
This is the Sharp PSS SIM, right? Hmmm, interesting news. What's "Self" mode?
Oops, just read over what I typed and I guess I wasn't thinking either. I was wondering if I could setup an account with Docomo (get a plan and phone) and swap the card from that phone/plan with the 905i phone I plan to buy soon (and use with a working workaroud in N/A). So in other words i would have 3 phone plans (AT&T/Rogers/Docomo) and was wondering if I could use the same 905i phone (N905i) on all 3 networks with the SIM fix in N/A and with the OEM card from Docomo.
Good luck on your project. I'm keeping an eye out on your work and the other guy's one. Although I just read that one fix wasn't detecting the SIM card. Damn shame.
It could be some idiosyncrasies of your local network. Over in China some locations won't work (mainly smaller cities and towns- it's always worked in big cities like Beijing and Shanghai) with the PSS-SIM. It could also be your SIM- from Hong Kong I read on forums that the phone doesn't like to cooperate with some providers' 3G SIMs.Originally Posted by wolvorine4424
Also, did you remember to stick the SIM in a "normal" phone first to get signal? That needs to be done sometimes.
think of it as a computer not connected to the internet. everything on the PC works but it can't communicate with others (ie. join networks).Originally Posted by KBoardBox
Ahh, I get it. Good analogy!
I'll keep playing with it. Maybe i need to do some settings with the phone before I insert the PSS with my sim for it to work...
Other then that, I'm going to extract the Flash from the chip and see what can be done to make it work... Not to mention I want to know the IMSI Number that is in it... Because my D905i likes that number, I didnt get even 1 error. Just no connection to the network.
If i'm correct. I think I need to disable the AUTO and 3G network setup and set it to Manual Tmo and GSM Only. just to eliminate these posible problems.
Other then that. the PSS is the first card that the phone liked and didnt reject.
are you saying this is the final hurdle?Originally Posted by wolvorine4424

I sure hope so...
Because the first time I tried. Everything was set to AUTO and 3G/GSM mode.
And I was not able to change the settings with the PSS and my v2 Tmo SIM in it. Probebly PSS/Tmo Sim have no support for auto switching and the phone just locked up... I was able to see the networks just was not able to select it.
Also I will turn it ON with no sim in it. just to clear the FOMA Docomo SIM status from the phone. and at that point set it to GSM Only and set the PLMN to Tmo US (310-26 ONLY) and then power off and insert the PSS with my SIM...
Will post results as soon as I try it.
P.S. My phone works better on Cingular/ATT this is the network its connected to most of the time. But it detects it as GSM... But I get better Signal with Tmo... What are the odds![]()
My phone works on like 7 bands... (GSM 850, 900, 1800, 1900 & 3G/WCDMA 850, 1900, 2100) I cant find the specs to give you a link... Will post as i find it. Damn, this manual is confusing.
Why does it detect ATT as GSM onlyShould it be 3G.
