Hi, I just found this thread today and have read through the whole thing in one go (with a break for lunch). wolvorine4424, thank you and congratulations on your amazing efforts to break these tough machines.

Please let me know if I can do anything to help with the testing. I'm not familiar with the technical side of these phones and so like a few members have also said, I don't understand half of what's been written on this thread. Nevertheless, I should tell you I am currently in Japan using an F905i (locked, of course) with an active DoCoMo FOMA service contract.

I originally found this thread because I was searching for ways to take my F905i home to Hawaii and be able to use it when I move back this August. At that time I will be returning to my family's house and will be back on their T-Mobile family plan. Because of that, let me know if there is anything (basic) I can do to help the cause.

Actually, the F905i will work fine. When you get back home get a HyperSIM(I don't know where they're sold; ask around), attach your T-Mobile SIM to it and you're good to go. You'll lose i-mode and mail (SMS is still OK) though, and reports are that the F905i is one of the less stable 905i models (meaning that it will drop calls every now and then).

It should work. Plus, the N905i is one of the most stable of the lot (you'll still maybe drop calls sometime, but I've read it's something like once a week/two/more instead of a couple a day in the F905i).

yangj08, thanks for the quick solution. I take it this has been generally confirmed to work then?

I'm not so worried about losing i-mode and stuff...comes with the territory. I just don't want to have to go home and switch from my beautiful F905i to a Samsung or Nokia, that's all.

Yeah, but just be forewarned that "every now and then" (when I mentioned dropping signal) may mean "multiple times in 3 hours" (from an Hong Kong-based forum I frequent). I can easily see it being worth it, though. On the one hand, I don't want the expectation to build that it will work absolutely perfectly, but on the other hand I hope that you don't really find it dropping multiple times in 3 hours like it apparently does in HK.

I hope it doesn't, either, but thanks for the warning. I guess I'll see for myself when I get back in August and get set up. Kind of a long wait. Either way, I hope T-Mobile doesn't fail me!

Been playing with it and still the same results...

The PSS SIM, Unblocks all the features so the phone works, BUT I cant connect to anything. I just see the DAMN big red X in the network list.
This phone really knows what i'm about to do... Scarry.

I'm going to NY later today, So I will see if there are any 3G networks there.
If there is I have to test a couple of features while i'm there.

Even If ATT told me that there is 3G available in my area, The phone DOES NOT see it. it only sees GSM networks. Thats if the operator knows what is the difference between 3G and just plain GSM network.

Try getting a HyperSIM instead. There's supposed to be a special version for DoCoMo phones. I've read plenty of reports of people happy with their D905i phones in China (well, except for one person who accidentally deleted the preinstalled games; really highlights the need to figure out how to get internet going on this thing).

Depends on whether the 3G network is on 1900 or 850. Apprently 3G doesn't work here and it's all 850 in Vancouver. :\

I have been around most of NYC and some NJ...

Not even 1 active 3G network that my phone was able to connect to.
All the networks my phone saw was only the GSM networks.

If i could get a rom dump of the phone i may be able to help. I have read about 95 precent of this thread. FIrst off good job and wow you have spent alot of money trying to get this phone to work.

I have a Panasonic P900iv so ya i know why you are trying to get this phone to work in america.

i also have a friend that has the same phone as you busted screen. Maybe i can get it off his hands and take it apart. There might be another way that i wanna try.

To be honest, I do need some hardware support here.

I do things as I learn them, this is why its taking so long...

One of the problems I have is:

Not sure what bootloader this phone runs on
I know its symbian but thats about it.

Not sure how to access the ram memory to do a bump. I can with MOTO phones, but this one just kills me.

I know you can do a HARD dump by reading it directly of the chip, but I do not want to risk killing it. this is a field I'm not really smart at.

I know the locks are in the software, but how do I get it all out.

Plus If i insert a forein sim in it, it does NOT ask me for a code. It starts up telling me unrecognized sim... thats all.

If i was able to remove this network block or just add a couple of network keys to the list then it will be gravy.

All it adds up to is getting the FW off the phone. I'm trying to get it using contacts in Japan. But due to the autoupdate feature, its extreamly hard.
