Did you try charging the phone?
So I was playing around with my phone and decided to turn it off, but when i tried to turn it back on it just gives me a flashing red light. I unbranded the phone about a week ago with no problem. What could be wrong?
Yea i have tried charging it, and also its a W580i and the red light flashes on the side of the phone.
how long did you leave it plugged in for.Originally Posted by dmich116

but the thing is the battery was at least half way charged before
and even when i plug the charger in without putting it on it still blinks red
Did you disassemble the phone recently?
Nope i didn't do anything to the phone at all.
Might the problem be with the firmware/software?
Quick fix. Happened with my K800i way back. This has been asked many times, and Wotan always solves it. It is 99% your software, and that's probably all. Here ya go...I looked for one of my posts responding to a similar problem.
Anyways, it solved the guys problem too. Same thing, flashing red light at the infrared port area on the side of the phone, and phone wouldn't turn on. He tried doing it without purchasing a credit, but it wouldn't work, so he had to shell out the ~10 bucks for it. I remember having to do the same thing.
Anyways, keep us posted. It should be a quick fix. Good luck!
Yup.. use Wotan to fix, and its actually free, since you buy 1 credit and start Wotan client to fix this problem and it does not take the credit, I fixed few of my friends' SE phones for this same problem and still have the credit for de-brand phone later.
Just tried your method bigasif but i got this error in Wotan
SEMCSEC Status 3
Now when ever i try to connect it again the red just flashes and my computer doesn't recognize it anymore
edit: should i just contact SE and try to get it replaced? there won't be a problem with them replacing it if i had the phone de-branded, right?
Hmm...that's really odd. Did you follow the instructions in that thread that the people said they used to get it working? I don't remember exactly what I followed, but it was a post where someone said they got it working, and then a bunch of people after started thanking that person since it fixed theirs too. Did you purchase a Wotan credit? As it seems like it is required, but you won't end up using the credit...you just need it to get into the system. Also, did you hold the 2 and 5 keys, or did you do what Wotan specified? Because if I remember correctly, what Wotan suggested, did not get the phone recognized. You need to hold 2 and 5 instead, and then it would work.
Try looking through the thread I posted with my instructions, instead of that quote I made, since I'm not positive if that was the exact method used. Good luck!
By the way, if your product is still covered under warranty, I suggest getting it fixed that way, although it will take time to get your phone back. Which is why if you can get it fixed through Wotan, you'll be better off. But if Wotan won't fix it, and nobody else can suggest another method, then maybe getting it serviced is your best bet. Not sure about the de-branded part, since I've never got a phone serviced by SE. Maybe someone else can let you know?
I gave Se a call and they told me to do it through At&T since it will be faster. At&T told me to go to a store and get it exchanged.
Hi, I am having the same problem. I have tried SETOOL to repair the GDFS and tried to update the flash. But no luck. Flashing is possible by pressing 2&5, but GDFS is not going through and returning with error 29. Please help me in the matter. Thanks
This red blinking is EROM failure. You don't need to buy a credit from wotan, just erase USER and PASS fields, connect it through 2+5 keys. Wotan will fix it.
