AT&T Tilt - GPS Application Comparison

I went out today and had Google Maps and Live Search on my phone.

I had trouble initially getting the GPS receiver to be recognized/communicating with the apps, both Google and Live Search. Running the Application called Quick GPS (In the Programs - Tools Folder) helped, I think, because it started working after that.

Live Search I used to go to a destination and Google I used on the way back, I switched back to Live Search after a few minutes. Live Search is much better!

Live Search gives you beeps when you are almost to a intersection so you know to get in the appropriate lane, etc. Google does not.

Live Search tracks on the screen, ie, you are always in the middle of the screen as you are moving on the map. Google, surprisingly enough did not do this, you have to physically move the map around to stay on your location as you move. I would have to imagine that there is a way to make this work, but maybe not. I certainly could not find it.

One thing that I wish Live Search would do that Google did do is to allow you to show the traffic on the screen while in a route. Google allows for this, doesnt seem to be available on the Live Search.

    What have others experienced??

well actually google will keep you in the center, just tap track location. if you move the map around just tap 0 to go back to the center. livesearch shows traffic, just not as well as gooogle.

i dont really use the tilts GPS because i have a tom tom but i do use it just to play around with it. but i have noticed that when tracking my self with live there is always a delay in the reaction time. like i would be turning at an intersection and then 4 seconds later the gps would be turning

HMMM i never noticed that. livesearch has always been very responsive for me. I love how it redirects you instantly when you make a wrong turn. i use gooogle for traffic and for everything else i use livesearch.

    TomTom Navigator >*

Google maps with gps is ok though if you need something quick and free. I haven't tried live yet. Vito FindMe is awesome. You set up your key word and when someone texts you that word it activated the gps, gets a fix, and texts them your coordinates and a link to google maps with instructions to view where you are.
