this was posted a while back, there's an option that popped up in SC called wirless home zone but wasn't active.
it's a matter of time, the service will most likely be offered with wifi enabled hpones like some nokia's and berries.. what's not known is if you'll need Rogers home phone.
I do hope that ROgers Home phone is NOT needed. Not everybody needs 2 phone lines, and Rogers Home phone defeats the purpose of using UMA when at home - which is the BIGGEST seller for UMA. That said I'm wondering if Rogers will launch this for Corporate customers first.
Now which phones will be supported.
And which that have WiFi are upgradeable to support UMA? Hmm.
Could any phone with wifi be able to use this service. Or would it only be Rogers branded headsets? Im not sure what its like for T-Mobile service, i just know they use a lot of Samsungs.

AFAIK it should be launched in spring. Seemingly there are posters here that don't believe what reps say even considering where it came from. But you see it's coming, and a rogers internal dbm told me about it's release date being this spring.
Don't feel bad... I also live in the country and had to buy a $400 booster so my TyTN would get service...
The closest tower is well over half an hour away, I'm amazed when I CAN get service. If I didn't care about specific phones themselves back when I got my original phone, plus believing the representative's words of "yep! look at our map, we cover that community!", I would have probably went with MTS, but I'm happy with Rogers. I'm only out in the country once a month, but sometimes I'm out here for a few weeks at a time. My TyTn is doing better at times for signal than my old v635, but at other times much worse.
What radio are you using to get any service being 1 hour from the tower?
It all depends on geography and all that sort of stuff, and since where I live is insanely flat, that could be how I can get a signal. I'm using 1.48. I think I was using 1.42 before, if I was, 1.42 was a bit more reliable
I'd be much happier with a femtocell/picocell at home.
Basically its a GSM or CDMA base station designed to be used in the home or in a building. The base station is then hooked up to the Internet and the data is back hauled to the carrier.
That way you don't need a WiFI enabled phone, any phone that the carrier offers is usable with the benefit of increased coverage.
We've been testing some Samsung CDMA versions here at Bell. I know that there are GSM/HSDPA versions out in the market, and can only assume that Rogers must be testing them as well!
