DUO ringtones

i am usually pretty good with this kinda thing but i am having a hard time seting up a MP3 as my ringtone. i put the songs on my phone but cant get them set as ringtone

You either have to limit the mp3 filesize to 30 sec or 300kb or go into the registry and delete the filesize limit value.

yeah, how would i go about that? im thinking im going to have to edit the file on my computer and then transfer right?

If you don't want to mess with your registry, edit the mp3 on your computer with a music editing program like Audacity then transfer it to your phone.

I appreciate it, One other question. How could i transfer a backround from my computer to my phone. Do i have to resize the image?

I created a ringtone which is less than 30s and < 300kb but I still can not get it to appear in the list of available tones.

What am I doing wrong?

What program do you use to make your ringtones?

I use a web site where you can upload an mp3, cut it to 20 seconds and send it to your phone. That way I don't have to go messing with Registry files

When I had the Duo, I used Cool Edit Pro, I cut the song to 30 sec or less. When I saved the tone, I converted it to mono then under the bit rate i uses 80kb 44000hz

ok, so after some playing around with the regisrtry of this phone I found a hack that you can use to sole this problem, of course you are going to have to find a registry editor for a windows mobile phone.

ok open a mobile registry editor, open HKEY_CURRENT_USER

open CONTROLPANEL

click on Sounds

change the file size limit to 999999999

and change Ringtones mulitstring just to Ring-WindowsMobile.wma (delete all other ringtones listed)

open Sounds and click on RingTone0

change savedsound to \My Documents\My Ringtones\*the song you want.mp3*
with out the *s
make shure that song is in your rintone folder

change Sound to the same thing as savedsound

restart your phone, and you should be good, all the songs in your ringtone folder should now show up in settings>sounds>Ring tone:

hurray now you are done, please do not take credit for this hack, give credit where credit is due

** i am not responsible if you mess up your phone by doing this hack, its your fault, because it worked like a charm for me**

I finally got it working simply by saving my ringtone as a .WAV file. For some reason that caused it to appear in the drop down box.

I was concerned that the wav file would sound really crappy, but it doesn't.

By the way the ringtone file has to be well under 300KB (like 294KB still caused it not to show up).

ok so i cut the song down to 30 seconds but i cant figure out how to convert the file or show up on the phone so i can set it as ring tone

Figured it out and the best way i have found to make you own ringtones is with itunes

do the songs have to be stored locally, or could they be on the memory card?? if so, would u just put in /Storage Card/My Documents/My Ringtones/name.mp3??? or does the full path even matter, couldnt i just put it as /storage card/mp3's/name.mp3???
