    N95-2 for North America

Okay, I'm confused..... I just ordered the N95-2 from ebay with the US version. Here is the link to the Ebay listing:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...:X:AAQ:US:1123

Now my question is... will this one get me 3g when tmobile finally comes out with it? or this still the Europe ver and I'm getting screwed!

    Help!!!

No phone you buy now will have 3G that works with T-Mobile's (including this one).

Also the N95-2 is the 8GB version with 2100 (non-US) 3G band (T-Mobile requires 1700 as well and their 2100 is not compatible with the 2100 in Europe.

If you want a phone that works on T-Mobile 3G when it's released, you need to look for the 2100/1700 band or it should be quintband (5 band)

i understand that tmobile does not have 3G right now, but my question is that when they will, will this specific n95 8gb phone that i'm buying from ebay work with that or not?

check out this engadget thread on the n95 8gb:

    http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2008/0...north-america/

this is the model i'm hoping my phone to be (with the "exact replica of the European version with the 2100MHz WCDMA radio surgically removed and replaced with an 850 / 1900MHz counterpart for speedy data in these lands." for 3G)

    thanks!

    NO.

T-Mobile's 3G works on 1700. The N95-8gb that you just bought works on 2100. It will not work. The N95 8gb in the link isn't out yet, and when it is, it will only work with AT&T's 3G on the 1700 frequency.

Wow... I am upset Thank you JohnnyBruha for sharing this information with me. I need to return this item and take a hit on the restocking fee. Few more questions:

    - Do you have any idea when TMobile is going to launch their 3G?

    - Why would it only work on AT&T's 1700 and not TMobiles 1700 (when TMobile comes out with it)?

    - Is the phone capable of doing video conferencing and other fancy features without being in the 3G network, I mean can I do video conference using wifi/edge?

    Thanks for the help!

I have no idea. Soon? A couple months? Who knows.

AT&T does not use 1700. They use 850/1900 for their 3G frequencies.

Video calling is also network dependent. The only way to do video calling is if you have an N95-3 on Rogers in Canada or an N95-1 or -2 on a European network. AT&T does not support video calling in the US.

Sorry you didn't see this thread before you made your purchase.

i just spoke to a tmobile rep from pittsburg... they don't expect 3G in 2008 and there's a 50% chance in 2009.... so now i'm going to stick with my crackberry curve, stay low and roll my thumbs till the US gets more advance than some of the third world countries....

fyi... i got an email from the ebay seller and he refunded 100% of the money back to my account without charging me any restocking fee. I would highly recommend anyone to buy from rdtwireless on ebay! I had actually bought two N95-2 8GB's and paid $1,362.96 OTD.

Thanks for all your help at howardforums...

    $1362.96 OTD?

Does that include shipping? 'cause that's kind of expensive considering my dad went to buy the N95-2 3 days ago from the local cell dealer and it was only $660, cash only (in other words no tax) And the N95-3 was up for $560.

Okay, so it's not so bad. Either way, it's not compatible with T-Mobile's 3G

Well if you liked the N95 8gb, why not just try the N95-3? The differences between the two really are only minor (IMO)

You can still use the current N95 8gb with T Mobile, you just won't be able to use the 3G. One way or another, there isn't a phone that uses T Mobile's 3G anyway, so you might as well buy what you'd like if the data speeds are all the same.
