Question - Do you have to flash it with v180 specific firmware or can some other models work as well?
I'm sure the firmware from any Vxxx with a 128x128 screen would work. Mine has Cingular-branded V220 firmware and works quad-band, but it has camera controls that you either live with and don't use or seem edit-away. If you can find quad-band V188 firmware it would be ideal.

Cool. I just threw the first thing on there I could find to get rid of the out of the box absurdity (shut down song etc.) Have you found any battery solution? Holy crap this thing is gonna be fun.

I replied to your PM concerning firmware.

As for the battery, no, I haven't found a solution. The battery and charger it comes with are junk, and even with my upgraded charger the battery runs down WAY too fast. I'm thinking about opening up the battery and installing a standard Motorola pack, but I first need to look at the phone's consumption to make sure it's the battery that's crap and not the phone itself.

I still need to figure out the antenna situation, but I haven't spared much time for the phone hobby.

The voltage on the original 8000 battery is way too high, 7.5v as opposed to the 3.6v our phones take.

Just found out the one retail outlet for these things is local to me............I called them and he'll sell tested (don't know what that means but I'd assume that it holds charge for a reasonable time) batteries and allow exchanges to him. $30.00 and he said he's expecting some in about a week.

Beats ordering from China and crossing fingers.

Has anyone here gotten a good batt?

    batteries

so i got this phone last week and the battery worked well for a few days. i measured the power coming out of the charger and it read 4.1V but even so, i ordered the Tenergy charger and used the alligator clips to attach it. i set it on the 3.7 setting and let it charge over night, however either the battery did not charge or the phone isn't working any more. I contacted analog hero for new batteries but will take some time for him to get them. I think my charger is wired wrong anyway because the green like is always turned on, even with no battery in the charger. my question is do you think my battery is fried or my charger (with the tenergy) isn't wired properly. also I was wondering where I could get a new charger and batteries sooner than from china or analog hero. thanks

    Motelona 158x going strong

Well i flashed x158 went down to my local AT&T center and after i convinced them that it is a gsm phone they activated it with pay as you go card and works GREAT the external antenna is for show only but there is a way to solder it to the main board but i get 3-4 bars without it The looks i get at Starbucks is worth all the labor it took to add the 850mhz and removing the crazy loud Chinese music and rewire the charger

I'm glad you're enjoying yours as much as I've enjoyed mine. I still have battery issues and I planned to pop open the battery to put a standard Motorola pack inside the case, but I recently switched to Verizon and unless my Verizon "international" SIM works in it I'm going to be selling my Motelona.

    Hello folks,

I'm just a new proud owner of a Motelona XY968.
I'm about to fix the antenna issue, but I have to admit that the condition of the phone is not as bad as I could expect.
Now, I would like to flash it with a better firmware. Here are my specifications:

-no carrier branded, exactly like a Motorola phone sold on its own, in stand alone
-not anymore the Asian intro and outro musical animations when the phone starts up or shuts down
    -quad-band enabled
    -if possible, with French language

Here are the technical data given by the phone:

    -Flex Version: GSIV188T673PR129
    -S/W version: R364_G_0BD1.1AR
    -DSP S/W Version: 62D7D700
    -Language List: 004D

Where could I find such a compatible file? Thanks to which tool/software could I flash the phone?

Thank you for your kind help.

    Correction :

I am ready to keep the current firmware if I can satisfy the conditions above just by editing the SEEM file. Just tell me what parameters should be changed if possible.

    hello
I have purchased a motelona xy968. i have been reading everything you guys have posted, and used the info to charge my phone for the first time. the second i got it i ripped out the charger innards and replaced them with a tenergy smart charger. it worked, but i got short battery life (a day). then one day i accidently bumped the switch on the charger to 11+ volts. this obviously killed the battery, but i dont know if i killed the phone too. i have tryed hooking a 3.7v battery pack to the phone, but i cant get it to turn on. can i replace the (fryed) circuit board with one out of a v180? also any suggestions on a replacent battery cell for the pack? thanks
