I have V03. After loading several custom ringtones via BitPim, I ran some tests:Originally Posted by Mysticorion

So its really not worth flashing the phone yet?
I just bought my phone from an indirect dealer in South Dakota (I'm 2.5 hours from the nearest corporate store). Just wondered if you thought they might have the capabilities of flashing my phone for me? Or maybe you guys might know when Version 3 software might be available on HoFo? Thanks Guys!
I dont have the new version and mine vibrates with custom text, just not with custom ringer which is the most annoying thing for me about this phone.Originally Posted by carpediembp
hmm maybe the bug was only on a few handsets... well all i can do is hope for V04 some time during spring, maybe we'll have fixes for vibe+pix and vibe+ring. and if at all possible a little less lag. Im sure we will be getting plenty more updates, look at the orig chocolate, they are on like FW V0500 haha![]()

He also tried to downplay the significance of flashing a phone - when I told him I was experiencing considerable lag in the menus he said it might be worth looking into the newer firmware. To me, it sounded like because he couldn't do it, he thought it wasn't worth doing. Not the first time I've dealt with him and he is kind of a know-it-all type of guy. I'd love to compare his knowledge to some of the guys on here (ie. Humpa or FAUGuy) and let him see how little he really does know!
I am headed back to the store to return the Venus tomorrow and go for the orange EnV mainly because I can use the external antenna with the EnV and can't without removing the battery cover with the Venus.
In reading through these posts, I keep seeing that the card memory issue has been resolved. That does not appear to be the case. Can somebody actually confirm this?
I have an 8 GB card, firmware version 03, the phone does recognize the 8 GB card but so did my old Venus with version 02. The problem is that when you connect the phone to the computer and then connect with either Music Essentials OR with Media Player, the computer then sees the card only as a 4 GB. After uploading a bit less than 4 GB of music, I still get the device full error. This is when using the supplied USB cable to connect the phone to the computer.
I removed the card and put it in a card reader. In this method, the computer does see the card as 8 GB but every way that I've tried to copy music from the computer directly to the card, the phone doesn't see the music on the card.
Has anybody been successful in loading more than 4 GB of music on the phone. If so, how did you do it?

No, nothing has changed. I'm talking about with an 8 gig card. I've always been able to get close to 4 on the 8 gig. It was somebody with a 6 gig card that said 1.6 was their max.
ahhh - interesting. i didn't know different sized cards had different results. i have 8 gb card but have not put that much music on it yet.Originally Posted by dknelson
I got my phone flashed to V03 yesterday, and can now use the full capacity of the 8GB card (well, 7.6GB, actually). I used a card reader to fill the card. I filled it in steps. I initially had it filled to the old 1.6GB limit, so I tried adding a few additional files (about 100MB worth) to test the new firmware. When I put the card in and went to My Music, it added the new songs to the library. At this point, I took the card back out, and added enough songs to fill up around 5GB. Put the card back in, it recognized the added songs. Repeated one last time to fill the card to capacity, and now it has 800 songs, at 7.6GB.Originally Posted by dknelson
So far no problems with playback of any of my mp3s, most are encoded with VBR. Tagging is a bit of a problem, it seems I need to clean up some of the tags and make sure that I've got the ID3 V2 versions correct. One issue that remains is that if I clean up the tags on the PC and then reinsert the card, the songs still show the old information on the phone. I think I'm going to dump the files to a temp folder on the PC, make sure the tags are accurate, reformat the card, then dump the files back to the card.
I'm using a Sandisk card, and a Sandisk MobileMate SD+ reader.
good info - i have the exact same hardware. i also hate the mp3 tags - because now my music not even listed in alphabetic order on my phone. going through and cleaning up the tags on all those mp3 files is going to suck... usually i use the RANDOM feature anyway though. it just sucks when i want to find a specific song (is it listed under artist, song title, etc).Originally Posted by neurokinetik
