6126 - Combined Call Log Access

I just got a Nokia 6126 (V 04.24, RM-126, code: 0536252) from ebay and am trying to find an easy way to access the combined call log (missed, dialed, and received). When I press the send key it only shows the list of dialed numbers. I can get to the list I want by going to Menu>Log>Call Log but that is a minimum of three button presses. My friend's 5300 displays the combined log when the send key is pressed, however his software is slightly different (RM-146 & 4.4x).

I'm looking into updating the firmware but the Nokia software update site informs me that I have the latest (4.24) software for my model based on the product code. This conflicts with info I have seen from elsewhere stating that the latest firmware is 5.61.

Will updating the firmware--if this is even possible--give me the results I'm looking for?

Go to Menu -> Settings -> My shortcuts and you can assign Call log to one of the shortcuts (I have mine on Up key). Obviously, my firmware is different, too, but maybe it's close enough to yours.

I forgot to mention in my original post, but Call Log isn't an option for any of the shortcuts. I assume this is an oversight that was fixed in later versions of the software, such as yours.

Perhaps you will just have to struggle.

True, true. In some ways I think I've been spoiled by WM6, but in other ways S40 is far superior. Can't have it all I guess.

EDIT: Scratch this last bit, it's beyond the scope of this thread.
On the other hand, is there any way to update my phone software? I think I read something about changing the product code so the Nokia updater will work. Is this feasible, or even possible, with my phone?

The firmware for my 6126 is 4.28.

Call logs are separated in this firmware (dialed, missed, received)

You can always try — but you need to get your phone unlocked first (get a code from AT&T). And then there's always iunlock.com who can flash it regardless of the lock status.

My phone is supposedly unlocked, or at least thats what the ebay description said... The firmware is definitely unbranded though, FWIW. It's all very confusing though cause the white product label says its a "6126h" but the battery cover has the Fave 5s logo on it.

I'm still researching firmware upgrades.. would it be possible to put 6133 firmware on my phone?

Yes, as well as 6131 firmware, although obviously the hardware-dependent features (like infrared) will not work on your phone.
