Instructions to Unlock T-Mobile Nokia 6086 Successfully

I just unlocked my locked T-Mobile Nokia 6086 without a hitch. Here are the instructions I followed to permanently unlock the phone with a foreign SIM card in it. The unlock code I was provided had 15 digits. I received it two days after paying $19.95 to a third party vendor on eBay (http://stores.ebay.com/dtddwireless-com) and providing the phone's 15 digit IMEI (from behind the battery).

Had I had more time I could have asked any active T-Mobile account holder to get the unlock code from T-Mobile for free for me even though I am not a T-Mobile customer, but time was of the essence.

1. When you turn on a locked T-Mobile Nokia phone with a non-T-Mobile sim card in it, the phone will say "Phone Restricted" or, if the SIM has a password already set, it will first ask for the password or pin, then say "Phone Restricted".
2. Press OK and the screen will change to "Enter restriction code"
3. Press #
4. Press * three times = P
5. Press * four times = W
6. Press * twice = +
7. Enter the unlock code
8. Press * twice = +
9. Press 1
10. Press #
11. Press OK and the display should then read "SIM Restriction Off"

Thanks for the info-- I requested my unlock code today, telling them I was going to buy "prepaid" minutes-- to keep the phone in the car for winter emergencies.

Does the voice over ip work without the tmobile service??

T-mobile walked me thru the unlock on my "other" phone.. (the instructions above are what he gave me, plus the "unlock" code...)

Did it with the T-Mobile SIM in-- then slid my daughter's AT&T SIM in.

My daughter again has a working phone, along with a "spare" battery, home and car cord-- and I paid "nothing" for it, since I wasn't using the phone anymore anyway..

I guess you can't give the unlock code? I really need this phone unlocked and I don't have the money to buy an unlock code? What can i do?
