Verizon Wireless XV6900 (HTC Touch) Pics! Due in March!

Hey guys! Here are some pics I was able to take of the Verizon Wireless XV6900 (HTC's Touch). It will be in White ONLY and it was very thin and light. It was a little thinner than the Sprint version of the phone. It was a very cool PDA and I'm impressed that VZW has acquired this handset so quickly. Usually they wouldn't have it for at least 1.5 years! Anyway, the HTC rep said it will be out by March and I think that there will be more colors later on personally. Anyway, sorry the photos are blurry. I had to take them fast with my i760 since there was a long line to see it.

This is defenitely not fake as you can see on the table in the pic there are some htc collateral. I was very surprised to see it there because I had not heard of it. But it was very real. There were not too many specs I could get from the rep who had it because he had just received the phone that day but it was extremely fast going through the menus. Faster than any Windows Mobile device I had ever used.

I was kind of hoping they would get the one w/ the t9 slideout keyboard. Oh well, the device is very slick but I do way to much texting to use a phone w/ no keyboard.

Everything else there is what is already released. That was the only phone that was a surprise.

There were different options for typing which are the same as the sprint version. None of them were nearly as comfortable as a real keyboard or a blackberry suretype.

I get the feeling that the touch is less for people who are doing alot of texting or emailing, and geared towards a type of person who just uses it to keep their schedule, maybe browse the web and read some emails, and as a phone rather than for emailing while away from the office.

I dont understand how they can expect people to type on a touch-screen keyboard when the screen is already pretty small? I checked out the sprint version and was dissapointed in the way the keyboard had been designed. I am not saying I have a solution, because that is the style and design of the handset. I still think it is going to be hard to beat the iPhones touch-screen keyboard, or at least it is the best touch-screen keyboard I have seen/used yet. If emailing wasnt important to me I would pick this up, as it is an awesome device aside from the lack of a decent keyboard, touch-screen or hardware.

The Touch's onscreen keyboard would function a lot better if one of the carriers would convince HTC to release drivers for the AMD Imageon interface that's built into the chip.

The entire device is hampered because everything is done in software - there's zero hardware acceleration in the entire device!

Once again I do wanna really stress that I honestly could not believe how fast the phone was moving through the WM 6 OS. I don't know if it's the same on the Sprint version because I have not messed with it but everyone will be really impressed with the speed. Fastest I have ever seen on a PDA!
