yes you are the only one...most of us dont use the iphone
Everyone who is currently using a smartphone with the 5$ / 10$ plans is screwed. For example I have the 10$ plan and use it with my Q9H and mail2web for push e-mail. It is working perfectly! Now when these new plans come into effect I will not be able to use this anymore...
Way to go Rogers, thank you for asking me to bend over...
BTW, when are these new plans coming into effect, is it the 1st of February or the 6th?
So I guess at that point even if I have the 10$ plan, if I go on the internet using my Q9H I will get charged pay per use?
Best things in life are free! I guess I am with the wrong provider then...
well, its happening in a week and a bit... and no one got any notifications that their current internet plan may not be suitable anymore? that tells me that they arent going to just screw everyone by surprise... so I think the data is data thinking is still true... perhaps a hard cap or something is how they will monitor usage of the unlim plan.
they cant just restrict you to goam... or the 3G users (even on just wap) will be screwed. right?
we just have to wait and see what they officially say, then actually find the real truth when our first bill comes in =)
Based on what I see, Rogers can definately tell which Phone model you are using... Just log onto your account and if you have multiple handsets just put your simcard in a different phone than the one you are currently using. You will see that your account will change right away to reflect the new phone... So basically I think its pretty easy for them not to force the use of goam. All they have to do is monitor the phone model you are using...
And based on the training people have received... it looks just like that.
An look at the small print of the mobile internet plans right now:
*Internet browsing includes sites optimized for mobile viewing
**Approximated at 4 KB for each e-mail/web page viewed.
So I guess they don,t even have to let users know... its already there.
^Yes but the concern is whether or not they WILL limit use to WAP or not....and in addition...what is the difference to rogers using 10mb of WAP or 10mb of DATA....this is all speculation until something is released. What phone people are using should not be an issue if they will soft /hard cap it.
yea, i think that knowing which phone u are using is not fool proof, and may take a lot to monitor.... plus ppl swap sims alot, that is a great feature of GSM... or someone like me (and prob many others) may just go where the 'price is better'... i still think a cap is where they are going to monitor.. its much easier and everyone will know what is the real limit of the unlimited usage =)
AT&T offer $55.00 V&D unlimited for the iPhone. iPhone sales are slowing down in Europe. Will Rogers wait for the next gen iPhone model? or launch in Q2/08? This year will be the data wars, better rates on the way! Who will match Bell's $7 unlimited? will bell open that plan to all PDA's!!!
so does it look like BB users on the 5MB mobile internet with the $20 communicate pack are winners or losers with the new change? please explain how, as I am one on these people. thanks in advance

from my understanding is you'll lose the 5mb and you can't use the unlimited data cuz your a BB so you SOL. but nothing official has been said so we'll have to wait and see.
Rogers still thinks I'm using BB pearl. I'm using the E90 and they're not able to show me that online.
I agree. Rogers thought I was using a phone from 4 years ago. I just never did a HUP or renewed my contract. The phone they have on file is the last one you got registered with, did a HUP with. From my understanding at least.
