    New Pearl OS - US Cellular 4.3.0.97

    New OS release for the Pearl from US Cellular is out.

    v4.3.0.170 (Multilanguage)

    Package Version: 4.3.0.170

    * Applications: 4.3.0.97
    * Software Platform: 3.1.0.51
    * File name: 8130uEFS_PBr4.3.0_rel170_PL3.1.0.51_A4.3.0.97_USCC .exe
    * File size: 97.29MB

    https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...B58CE00D1194C9

    Select Blackberry 8130 from the dropdown and click Next. Then click the "Download" link that appears at the bottom of the page.

    Instructions for installing on VZW Pearl:

    1. Make sure you have a recent version of Desktop Manager installed. VZW Pearl shipped w/4.3, you can also use 4.2 SP1, 4.2 SP2.

    2. Download the above file to the PC then install it to the PC by running the file you downloaded.

    3. Locate the vendor.xml file and delete it. It's located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader

    4. Plug in BB and Open Desktop Manager. You should be prompted to upgrade.

    The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."

    If you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to DM again and run application loader again and it should load the OS to the device.

    If you have done any memory cleaning on your current OS (hear me, Omie) you'll have to do it all again - removing or renaming the CODs you want to skip loading w/the new OS.

    Have fun, kids!

    I don't have a Pearl anymore me a sad sad person, but with no job and having to pay over $60 for my phone bill, its just not cutting it.

    You all have fun with all your updates and what not. I just have to sit back and be sad that I don't have a Pearl anymore.

    I would have already done the update and cleaned up my Pearl, but I CAN'T

    Bummer, Omie! Hope you'll hang around a little in spite of that. Good luck on the job front (if you want one, that is).

    I did just confirm that this OS update fixes the 30s pause that used to occur when playing streaming videos from m.vtap.com...they no longer get stuck every 30s and then skip ahead a few seconds. Yay!

    Im still around here and there, im back to my POS Chocolate, things just aren't the same anymore

    I've been looking for a job since late last year, anyone know where I can get a job? lol. On the bright side, I have a job interview today. I might be back to a Pearl in a month, maybe possibly.

    Its good to hear updates are fixing more and more little bugs, I can't wait to get around to messing with some stuff lol.

    Lemme guess...gonna get the pink one? And I think I have a pretty good idea of who bought your Pearl (some other guy wrote about buying a Verizon Pearl in a Sprint housing and losing his trackball).

    Still in the process of updating the OS right now.

    I laughed my A$$ OFF when I originally read that post about the trackball falling out. I knew it was 0mie's right off the rip. Well, now I know not to buy anything from 0mie

    BTW, how's the new m.youtube.com "millions" of videos are now accessible, well that's what youtube posted on the new release of it.

    Have you tried uploading videos from your Blackberry, just sign up and they give you the MMS address and instantly upload and share videos, not just on BB, but on any MMS enabled device. Pretty cool feature IMO, used it a couple times in the past.

    Unless there is a SURE way I can get in , the LONGGGGG hiring process makes me dread applying there, I wouldn't mind it as id make BANK, but the long process makes it that much harder.

    I don't have 30s with 4.3.0.81

    I am considering update to US Cellular, but I start to believe that small fixes added by RIM are provider-specific without specific advantage for other providers. If no particular enhancement will came up with US cellular release, next update (for me) will be 4.5 whenever update will be released.
    It is not worth wasting time to update for the sake of update, particularly if it is not known what RIM really does with each incremental update.

    I think my BB is hanging.

    Got all the way to Wait for device initialization and now its hour glassing forever....

    Any suggestions?

    EDIT: Nevermind. It kicked back into processes. Weird. I've never seen my Pearl hang on the hour glass that long during any of the other updates....
