Got all the way to Wait for device initialization and now its hour glassing forever....
Any suggestions?
Karma my friend
Did you take the battery out and see if that fixed the issue? If not just re-install the update. That should be the problem, one time an update took almost 5 minutes to initialize after the screen came up, so just wait or take the battery out if you can't wait lol
Cheap TPU cases. Thunderbolt, MT4G, Nexus S (4G) Droid X/X2, DInc 2/S, HTC Sensation, Samsung Infuse, EVO 3D, SGSII

I noticed that too.....that it would hourglass for a very long time. The only thing I really noticed (other than it changing my font back to the default font) is that going into Status, I have an additional MB of memory, so now I am starting with 16.5 MB after a restart.
With memory being so cheap, why can't RIM manufacture the phones with 128 MB of memory rather than 64 MB?

If memory is of big concern to you, do my memory cleansing you will have about 28MB of free memory and everything you use on the phone will still be there

I'm not all that worried. Never had a memory leak problem. I could go a couple of weeks without a battery pull and my memory never goes below 10 MB free.
The only thing I've noticed, and I noticed this with the last Alltel build too, is that CompanionLink for Google stopped working. I actually downgraded back to the Telus 4.3.065 a few weeks ago after trying the Alltel build because I couldn't sync my Google calendar.
This morning, I installed this latest build, and the same thing - CompanionLink for Google would not sync. So, I bit the bullet and installed GoogleSync. I know some people have reported it as problematic, but so far it seems to be working ok. I'm going to email CompanionLink and let them know, but until they come out with a fix, I'll just use GoogleSync.
I am considering update to US Cellular, but I start to believe that small fixes added by RIM are provider-specific without specific advantage for other providers. If no particular enhancement will came up with US cellular release, next update (for me) will be 4.5 whenever update will be released.
Strange thing... I've been running .81 since its release... up until about 2 weeks ago, I did have the ~30s pause, but since then it no longer happens, streaming vids from youtube & vtap as well as streaming audio from somafm are now completely uninterrupted... and I changed nothing on my end
Anyway... .81 is operating flawlessly form me so I may also skip .97 and stay put till 4.5
If video didn't get fixed with this release, then maybe something on the VZW network was changed. All I know is that it started working today and hadn't worked before.
I'm a serial upgrader and optimist. Even though I'm in SW development, I always hope the latest release is the best.
I've noticed that the lag in the arriving call to call answered screen seems to be gone or less.
Omie - get the VZW process started - always good to have a backup.

someone here I think mentioned that Verizon rep promised fixing issue with streaming audio/video. Seems that actually Verizon fixed the problem (which would indicate that this was not OS related issue).
When I was younger I was really crazy about updating OS. All my BSD boxes, linux, solaris, windows, were up to date and tweaked as much as possible. Then I got to the point that updating become boring. I knew all installers, I knew what i wanted and never had any issues during installation (or after). No surprises, no excitement so currently I do updates only if there is a compelling reason or something to learn.
For me compelling reason will be 4.5 as i don't see reports stating more speed or stability or new interesting features.

Oooo....I noticed that happening the last few weeks with my phone....drove me absolutely nuts. I would think that the press of the answer button didn't take, so I would press it again and then get that annoying beeping.
