I've noticed that the lag in the arriving call to call answered screen seems to be gone or less.
Might be a good reason to upgrade... I've used VZW, Telus, Sprint, and Alltel software on my Pearl so far. I have to soft-reset about once a week or so when the RAM gets below 12MB free. How's the RAM looking on .97 so far?

someone here I think mentioned that Verizon rep promised fixing issue with streaming audio/video. Seems that actually Verizon fixed the problem (which would indicate that this was not OS related issue).
When I was younger I was really crazy about updating OS. All my BSD boxes, linux, solaris, windows, were up to date and tweaked as much as possible. Then I got to the point that updating become boring. I knew all installers, I knew what i wanted and never had any issues during installation (or after). No surprises, no excitement so currently I do updates only if there is a compelling reason or something to learn.
For me compelling reason will be 4.5 as i don't see reports stating more speed or stability or new interesting features.

I've done a moderate amount of cleaning (see this thread for details - http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...ee-memory.html) and am running at about 19MB free right now. Since the upgrade I've been in the 17 to 21 range when I've looked (which isn't too much - I've never had any sig. memory problems).
You could do some relatively simple memory cleaning based on the thread above and likely improve your situation, or upgrade, or both.
One easy/quick one that I frequently forget after an upgrade. If you have a micro SD card, go to Media and in Options set Reserved Pictures Memory to 0 MB (default is 2MB).
I upgraded from .81 to .97 and now my text message limit is down from 160 characters to 138. anybody else notice this or is it some setting i have wrong.
I noticed the default font is kinda screwy now. It seems like the spaces between characters is huge. Is there any way to go back to the fonts of the previous version?
Edit...
Can I just use the apploader and drop on the file called "net_rim_font_system.cod" from the previous version or will that not work?

I've noticed another fix...when playing videos w/.81 if I used any video controls after the movie had gone to full screen, it would never go back to full screen unless I stopped it, closed the player, and restarted. So if I paused a movie, use FF or rewind, etc., I would lose full screen. W/.97 that isn't happening any more...that alone is worth the time for the upgrade to me, as I've been putting more videos on my card to fill my time when shopping w/the wife, in waiting rooms, etc. There's nothing like a shot of "Anchorman," "The Office," or "Ghostbusters" to kill the tedious minutes.
Bummer, Omie! Hope you'll hang around a little in spite of that. Good luck on the job front (if you want one, that is).
I did just confirm that this OS update fixes the 30s pause that used to occur when playing streaming videos from m.vtap.com...they no longer get stuck every 30s and then skip ahead a few seconds. Yay!
I'm still on Alltel .81 / Verizon and I'm not getting pauses so Verizon may have changed something at their end.
Check out http://somafm.com on your Pearl for some good streaming radio.
Yep, somafm is great... in fact that is where I first noticed almost 2 weeks ago that the ~30 sec pauses were suddenly gone w/.81
Yes, exactly. Verizon must have done something. Do you know of any other good stations to recommend? Its hard to find something that the Pearl will play since it won't play MP3 and WMA streams.
