I see that the red LED indicator doesn't stay on as long as it did on previous releases. I know this, because thats the way i see if i have any messages (when it is holstered or not).
usually when i get up in the morning, i see my phone blinking... but today, no blink, but had 4 new messages.
OK, I noticed another change/fix over .81 - it's small, but something I noticed anyway;
When I used to "lock" the device/keyboard, the little speaker icon (for Profiles) in the top right corner would get cut off, now that does not happen as the icon seems a bit smaller.

nope,
i don't see this issue with .81
You are re-installing whole OS, some quirks are related to the specific installation than changes in OS.
After reading all these posts, I don't believe that there are any real changes, at least between .81 and .97
I have the medialoader file in my 'build' but I do not have the sample video. maybe I just unchecked it in the application updater in BB desktop manager.
anyway, my 8130 is working great on .97!
Can someone explain the difference between stand-by and just using the key-lock? I know I still get calls/text, but do gmail and google talk still stay online? what does standby really do?
Stand-by is when you press the Mute key on top of the phone. It saves the display and causes all keys to be inactive, save for the two on each side of the Pearl ball. If you hit any of those four, you see a message stating that it's in stand-by mode, then it goes dark again.
Keyboard lock actually locks the keypad (press and hold * to activate. To unlock, if you are not using a password, press * and then the green send key. If using a password, then you would enter it.
When in keyboard lock mode, pressing any button causes the display to light - so stand-by is still a good idea to use even if you use the keyboard lock. This helps to preserve battery life.
I can't get the update to work correctly. I did everything that was stated in the first post, and when I the Blackberry in fired up the software it said that there was no update.
Another "dumb question" ... Did you run the .exe file in the update you downloaded? If you don't install the update, the program won't know that the update is there.
“to the people of Grand Rapids, I didn't know that was meatloaf...."
there seems to be a glitch with this OS. when texting i get the "input system error" errror. when i type a word and press space, the word typed disappears. has anyone seen this?
