I can use Orb on .81, but I have to manually set the speed. If I don't, it detects the link as the one from my network's OC-3 to RIM's servers as so fast that the BB can't keep up. There are links at the bottom of the Orb page to set the speed; try that.

What speed do you normally set it to?
I have everything set to 80kbps and some times it works and sometimes I get the "An error has occurred while attempting to playing media" message.....
So freakin' weird. Are you guys using 2.0?

It doesn't seem like it's about the OS version, IMHO...folks are streaming or not on various releases w/out any consistency.
I'm on .97 - Orb works w/.97 and also worked for me on .81 as well, m.vtap.com had 30s pauses before .97 (now gone), Blueapple never did work (now it works fine), SomaFM won't work, all other radio streaming works fine...and also worked fine on previous releases.
Find the consistency for me, someone!!!
m.vtap.com works flawlessly but sometimes my phone soft resets when the video is done playing (no pauses though), SomaFM works flawlessly, radio streaming is fine, haven't tried Blueapple yet.
Is there any other program out there similar if not better than Orb that does the same thing?
This happened to me as well, but it had nothing to do with the upgrade. I noticed my battery was barely lasting 8 hours, let alone a full day. I thought my battery was bad, but I did a battery pull (physically removed the battery and not use the Soft Reset program) and left the battery out for a couple of minutes and now the battery life is fine again. By the end of the day, I am at around 80-85%.
my battery life has been horrible as well. I did exactly this and I'm around 80% by the end of the day!!
I have used this for a few days, and have not experienced this with TXT, MMS, Email or anything yet.
I had this happen to me once. I closed the messages app then went back in and it was fine. Like I said, it only happened one time.
I am having another problem. I went to vtap. Every time I let a video end that didn't have a time length on it, the phone rebooted when the video finished. I haven't had a chance to try letting a video with a time finish to see if it does the same thing.
I see one other person asked this, but it wasn't answered in any of this post, so i'm going to ask this again. Even though i'm sure its a n00b question. Does changin the os to a diff carrier's os unlock the gps reciever for other apps? I'm gonna assume not, but it would be awesome.

Nope, it doesn't. The GPS is locked through the firmware. Updating the OS has no effect on this at all. FWIW, the OS updates (regardless of carrier) has the same files. That is it contains all the files for all of the carriers. So, if you were to go into the folder on your computer that contains the handset OS files, you will see the provider themes for all of the providers, although when you run the update, only the Verizon one gets loaded onto the handset.
I have upgraded to the newest operating system (4.3.0.97) and find that I am still experiencing Bluetooth issues.
Every day, Bluetooth switches on its own from "enabled" to "disabled". Sometimes, I am able to get it back to "enabled" simply by selecting it from the options menu. Other times I have to do that multiple times before it will enable. Still other times, I find I have to do a battery pull.
From the reading on this thread that I've done, I thought that this newest version should have corrected all Bluetooth problems.
Is my problem a "known issue" or do I have a dud? Is there a solution?
Folks have reported BT problems, but I haven't seen any consistency to them...I've used all the Pearl OS releases and BT has worked for me on all of them.
There were some reports from folks that ensuring that the blue BT status light (covered in BT options? Can't remember...) is set to on resolved their problems.
But I haven't seen any posts that linked these issues to a particular release of the Pearl OS.
End of the day, if your problems are that significant and persist, you could consider trading in your Pearl for a new one under warranty.
has anyone who has upgraded to the new OS experienced any troubles with their input system? Okay, that doesn't make much sense.
Basically, when entering in text messages now or even using BlackBerry Messenger, it will delete words while I am typing them. Or when I press the space, it puts a period and won't continue. Weird stuff like that. Sometimes it'll just lock up and then give me a error saying that it's restarting the input system or something like that and then it'll start working again. Did a couple of battery pulls, etc. but it still keeps coming back. Not sure what the deal is but I might have to revert back to a older OS. Maybe AllTel's...I really like not having to say OK when I press the standby button and the response time has been fantastic with this new OS.
