Hi all,
Just wondering, and yes I did search first, how often can you HUP? I know there's the early HUP @ $10/month, but is there a minimum number of months that you have to wait before you can use an early HUP?

Good point. The HUP rules are different for corp accounts, and each corp account has different rules.Originally Posted by O_ssie
So you will need to find out the specifics for your account if you are on a corp acct.
Corporate accounts are able to HUP every 24 months, but are allowed to do them early, at a cost of either $10 or $20 (I forget which one) for every month prior to their actual HUP date. Usually corporate customers then have very good prices on hardware.
Consumer accounts can NEVER do a hardware upgrade early. Often times relations will send out cheapo phones if someone needs a new phone due to physical/water damage (for example).
Guess I am the un norm then, I signed a 3 year march 21,2006 and I HUP'ed january 7th this year on a consumer account.Originally Posted by newman_dcb
For corp it is $10/month early, and they are usually elligible for a $ discount as well depending on their tier.Originally Posted by newman_dcb
Consumer accts Can do early HUPs. Standard elligiblity is at 30 months, but you can do an early HUP after 12 months. between 12-30 months you will have to pay an early ugprade fee of $100, $75, or $0 depending on your spending since your last HUP.
I was assuming the OP wanted to do a HUP prior to the 12 month allowance, that's the meaning I took from "early HUP" anyway. A hardware upgrade after a year isn't really an early HUP per se, if the company allows upgrades every year on consumer accounts. It's just usually a pricy one, since most of us are stuck in Tier 1 (like myself!)
I see, well she was asking what the minimum number of months would be to do a early HUP.Originally Posted by newman_dcb
So the answer of course would be you can do a early HUP at a minimum of 12 months.
But, ya, the terms used leave it open to interpretation. As I originally said, she should just read the Sticky FAQ.
If you are a long standing customer, certain rules don't apply, especially when you are speaking a retentions rep. I did an early HUP through retentions 10 months after my previous HUP, and I still have my annually scheduled HUP for the one year anniversary of my last official HUP. Yay for me.
I am able to do an early hup every 6 months. I am on a corp account that I believe is one of the best.
Anyway, I'm up for the HUP now. Which phone do u guys think is better, Nokia 5300 or SE 580i? I'm a really big fan of MP3 phone ^^
Thanks for any suggestions.
Thanks, THAT answers my question.Originally Posted by rdeala
As for this comment, as I mentionned, I did in fact search and the sticky clearly says no upgrades under 12 months. however given that in October I was offered to do an early HUP for $20 after only 10 months, this was either old information or something else applied to my account, so I dared to askOriginally Posted by Dylan Macleod

thanks to the helpful answers, it appears that the exception is corp accounts, which applies to me.
When I first signed up on Hofo, I was a CSR and this site was about helping and answering questions, no matter how far below our "superior" knowledge they were. Next time I'll bring a sacrificial lamb when asking a question...

i know you said you searched. and you also said you didn't find the info you were looking for, so I did 2 things: 1. To the best of my knowledge, and to the best of my understanding I answered you question. 2. tried to refer you to where you can get more detailed info.
And then your response to me trying to be helpful is to insult me? why? I was trying to help you? wtf?
I am sorry I didn't know you were on a corp account and so gave you the correct answer for a consumer account. I was doing my best to be helpful.
Seriously WTF?
...so I refered you to the Sticky FAQ, and you insulted me for it, and yet if you had bothered to read what I helpfully tried to refer you to you would have seen the Exact answer you were looking for.
Since you insult me for refering you to your answer how about I just quote it for you? Is that better? Hopefully you won't insult me for helping you this time.
