    Another LG Shine CU720

This is my first post, but before you flame me, I have gone thru at least 7 pages worth of searching and across a dozen forums and website in research to answer my problem. So far I only got partial answers but here goes.

    What I have:
    -LG Shine CU720 (AT&T)
    -USB Cable
    -2gb MicroSD card
    -dB Power (To encode music)
    -Audacity (To dissect the music)

I have learn that the ringtone limit is 300kbs for the Shine which I can get by easily making a 30 second ringtone encoding it to 128kbps bitrate with 44100Hz frequency (Stereo).

The problem is the music is still rather quiet than LOUD for a ringtone. I have actually downloaded a few other people's ringtones to compare their properties. Some I have seen 96kbps bitrate with 22050Hz frequency (Stereo) but their ringtones are much louder and easier to hear if the phone is in my pocket or downstairs.

Is there some property I do not know exist that controls the default volume? The output volume on audacity is all the way max (1.0). I know years ago before I learn the torrent ways and I was hitting up Kazaa Lite (Yes you guys did it too back then ) and I would come across same songs but different volume levels.

Sorry for my long post, going at this for hours is tiresome and I am trying to provide as much info as I can to hopefully have someone understand my situation.

    Any help would BE GREAT!

P.S. I will contribute back to the community if this issue can be solved. The entire AT&T forum is utterly useless with no help. I'll be sure to post a DIY there and it should help cut back on repost here.

What i do is use the program "Switch" i think its free...that converts the file size to make it smaller...and they give u many bitrates to choose from i.e. 96, 108, 112,128 so that u can get max quality and max bitrates while keeping under 300

For your audio problem with volume...i use Audio Editor Gold, you can increase the decibals of any audio file and make it louder...i does not affect the quality of the audio file and if it does its probaly barely noticable....but i don't think this program is free. I think u can torrent it or something

hi, how do u even set the music as a ringtone? i've cut the music using Audacity and i transfer it to my phone using a USB cable, but there is no option to set as a ringtone. the file size is 212kb, which is well under 300kb. It allowed me to play it as a song, but i cannot set it as a ringtone. I have the CU720 as well. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks guys.

I use Audio Editor Gold to increase the decibels as don_813 say. And it works!

Thanks again! I'll be sure to post this on the AT&T forum. There is absolutely no help over there.

hey steamy...if you can play the song than u should definitely be able to set it as a ringtone...for my cu720, i just go to My Stuff, Audio and Ringtones, Select the song and then go to Options and then Set As and then select either Ringtone or Ringtone ID

In Audacity select the trimmed track, then go to Effects > Normalize, accept with default settings, save as mp3.

Or use http://makeownringtone.com it applies this filter by default.

I use audacity and encode at 128. I just use the eq to drop the bass a little and raise the treble and the tones come out louder without distortion. I also only make them 16-20 sec so they are bigger file (louder) but dont reach 300k, usually about 260-270k.
