Let's face it, the $15 plan was a once in a lifetime type of plan for what you got. You can't get data that cheap anywhere in the world and it only happened because of some circumstances that just seemed to come together at the same time. For those of us that got it, we should just count ourselves lucky as it really was a "secret" plan that was never advertised. In fact, I bet the majority of people that did get the plan off the street with the Pearl, Touch and S620 don't even know what they really have and are not even using the browsing bonus (other than using Facebook on their Pearls).

The fact that the new plans are advertised with the unlimited data and also include extras such as VM, CID and texting is revolutionary. It gives clients more value than having to pay for those features separately and also forces the other carriers to respond to these plans as they are advertised to the general public. This will only forces prices even lower in the future, especially with the upcoming spectrum auction and possible iphone release. The new prices are on par with U.S. data plans and may even be cheaper in some cases. It pretty much is the beginning of bringing the Canadian wireless industry up to the standards of the rest of the world.

    Not impressed with the changes.

    $15 - "promo" Personal Email & IM 15
    $10 - Unlimited Messaging
    $10 - Business Bundle 10
    -------------------------------
$35 got you Call ID, Voicemail 25, Call Forward, Unlimited Email, Unlimited Txt, Unlimited IM, Unlimited browsing/apps

Now for $10 more you get 15 less voice slots and no call fwd. Just glad I jumped on it when I did.

For $30 you have to use a Telus email address, the kludgy and retarded telus email solution, telus' crappy specified browser, and telus' specified MSN messenger program.

If you use any of the following, you get charged $8/MB

    GMail
    Facebook
    Agile Messenger
    Google Maps
    ActiveSync
    an RSS Reader
    WMWifiRouter

Whereas on the old plan, these and any other app you wanted to use were included.

The new plan is almost useless, unless you're in the 1.1% of Canadians who only uses an @telus.net email address and has all their friends on MSN messenger. And you don't go on the internet, read the news, or use Facebook.

Hey I should recommend this to my Grandpa!
Doesn't anybody notice that there are TWO different $30 plans? One does include unlimited data (but does not have VM, CID or unlimited texts) and that plan seems to be the equivalent to the pre-Feb. 3 plan. The restriction to Telus Mobile Email seems to only apply to the Email/IM plans only and not the other plans that include "Unlimited Web Browsing and Applications Usage". Yes it is now double the price, but there is an upside. You can now keep your EPP17.30 voice plan, add the $30 u/l data plan and be able to meet the $45 minimum requirement.

wow..... :-| guess i really should have pulled the trigger and got in while it was still the secret u/l data

just couldnt justify bumping the voiceplan to $30 and adding a $15 feature to check my facebook and browse the web while on transit :P

I wish there was a $15 u/l web browser tho. I could care less about getting my personal emails pushed to my device anyway...

No you still need a $30 voice plan to get these new plans. I'm sure exceptions can still be made but it doesn't say anything about the $45 voice/data combo.

Seems stupid to need a minimum $30 voice plan to add a $30 data add on. It will be interesting to see how often they enforce it.

you people need to learn how to read. if you cant read, get rid of your cell phone.

    the new features are:

    Personal Email & IM 15 :: Unlimited BIS/TELUS email + Device IM
Personal Email & IM 30 :: Unlimited BIS/TELUS email + Device IM, Caller ID, VM10, Unlimited Texting

    and

Personal Email, IM, & Web 30 :: Unlimited BIS/TELUS email + Device IM, Mobile Browser
Personal Email, IM, & Web 45 :: Unlimited BIS/TELUS email + Device IM, Mobile Browser, Caller ID, VM10, Unlimited Texting

    Notes:

    • TELUS Email is NOT a telus supplied email, it is YOUR email using push technology on WM devices.
    • Mobile Browser: when you have the Web 30 or 45 plans, the browser includes access to device programs like facebook, bb maps, google maps, etc.

edit: The 45$ combo is still a requirement. This means you could take a 20$ plan and get the 30$ feature and still qualify for the handset promotional pricing.

But if you click on each of the links to the 4 new plans is says

"Say it all when you combine a smartphone add-on with a voice rate plan of $30 or greater."

Why would a rate plan come with a condition of maintaining a $45 combination? You're not getting a subsidy on it.
