Maybe they don't have the funds to buy every new phone outright so have to wait until contract renewal time???? Sorry for your philosophy, but not everyone has (disposable) funds to "waste" every couple of months on a 'phone. Eventually we all have to be realistic and set priorities.........

ill never understand customers getting the phone for free is the most important. well its not when u sign ur life away for 3 years u got a discount and they are less willing to give u a discount in the future. so the more expensive rate plan for a one time discount. now the cheapest unlimited plan is 15$ more do that times 36 months 540$ + taxes uve paid the phone back right there.
im sorry theres a reason i dont sign contracts. i dont threaten to leave but u better believe i get everything i want. cuz i can leave anytime i want no cancellation fees

um, yeah, but your phone is a brick unless you're paying SOMEONE for service. If you stay with the same provider for the long term, you might as well get the contract and get the discount on the phone. You're paying the monthly fee ANYWAY.

well i would have to assume most of the people here are in their 20s or 30s by now and if u havent learned to budget yet then well thats not my problem and i couldnt careless. all adults if u cant come up with that change then u better never get a car cuz repairs will make u give it up very quickly. im sorry i just have no pity. maybe im cold but ive paid full price for phones since the samsung a520 which was 420$ i think when it was released. then lg 5450 was 400 something i think 476$ then i870 which was 570$ p4000 i paid 543$ i was a teenager when i paid for my sammy a 520 full price and my money not mommy or daddy so i think its budgeting it comes down to but whatever to each his own. im just saying dont complain about losing the deal just for a specific phone.
the curve is like a q or s640 too many buttons jammed onto a tiny phone. i hate it. its cute looking but way too small
You could also benefit from reading lessons apparently. Telus mobile email PULLS from your POP3 and then, at its' leisure, pushes to your device. So if I send you an email, it doesn't go to your device. It languishes on a server until it gets checked. This is not push.
The Web 30 and 45 plans only allow Pocket IE browsing on Windows Mobile. =Facebook FAIL, Google Maps FAIL, no RSS. They're either horribly rendered or don't work in pocket IE, and if you use the client app or a decent browser you're charged $8/MB.
Also you can't activesync anymore. So no more exchange support, no more push email to windows mobile, and no more keeping your phone current with your work computer unless you're sitting at your desk.
They've completely disabled the core functionality that Windows Mobile was designed for: mobile outlook. Calendar/Contacts/mail are now kludged on as if it was a 2001 Handheld PC, not a wireless pda. Despite the fact that that's what you bought.
Oh yeah and Web 2.0, AJAX, and Flash are out. Welcome to 2002 again.
Translation: this is a totally different plan that has very little to do with the old $15 plan. It's not "almost the same."
If Telus starts doing deep packet inspection then this guy is right. And them finally creating a plan structure like this suggests they are already doing it (maybe testing) or are very close. Rogers already does deep packet inspection on their cable network to be able to throttle/QoS so what makes you all think Telus isn’t capable of doing it.
edit: sorry this guy isnt completely correct on the plans. the 45 will allow you everything cause it includes the applications. the 30 and 15 however would be limited like he says.
just get one with wifi and your phone is far from a brick
now I wait until my renewal and see what big T can offer me
I love the wifi on my S640. My wi-fi router is upstairs and I can sit and use my Internet for MSN and browsing from the comfort of my living room. Yes, I do have a laptop, but the S640 is more than capable at handing what I want to do and as well, smaller.
The only time I have a problem with my wi-fi connection on my S640, is when my wi-fi router decides to act up. Not the phone's fault.

Like I said earlier, there are TWO $30 plans and one does include all application data, but does not include VM, CID and umlimited texts.
Regarding the applications with the $45 plan. Is it possible for me to not use the Telus mobile email to download my POP email and use the regular Outlook Mobile way for free?
So I'm trying to figure out what's included with the unlimited web portion.
Included:
Almost all WAP sites including navigating onto YouTube mobile pages (m.youtube.com)
Google Maps application
Charged extra:
Streaming YouTube videos
Uncertain:
Skype
Can anyone clarify or add to this list? Are we allowed to surf on Opera Mobile? Are we allowed to view full page versions of say FaceBook? The screen may be small but EV-DO is fast. I'm looking to get the HTC S720...

Everything is included, use whatever browser you want. Skype is against the TOS.
