All I can say it....I'm scared.

As long as they don't turn the Danger OS into Windows Mobile Mini, I'm ok. I don't care for Windows too much right now.

But, it could be a good thing...

We have no choice but to wait and see.

This is why I came over to this forum. The Winmo guys / gals are like "yay" a counsumer grade OS that will be easy to use and expandable.

The SK folks are like .. OMFG kill me please kthx!

I just told my friend that "escaped" from his dash to the sidekick (and has been ridiculously happy since) and doom and dread was his forecast as well.

Potential problems:

• Licensing issue with Yahoo and AOL; remove those messengers (the best on any phone, BTW) in favor of the OZ IM garbage
• OS converted to a Vista derivative
• No more server-based data (meaning if you lose your phone, you lose your data)
• No more push email unless you're on Exchange

Ultimately, it'll become a shadow of its former self.

My Six Degrees of Separation of Danger:

(1) I used to live 2 blocks from Danger in Palo Alto (they are directly across the street from Fry's Electonics)
(2) Their network engineer is my ex-boss from 10 years ago at a major ISP nearby
(3) Same ex-boss is my sisters ex-boyfriend
(4) Old co-worker from the next job after above ex-boss is one of the Danger's co-founders.
(5) I am an ex Microsoft employee, and I was 5 seconds from applying at Danger for the position my ex-boss eventually got.
(6) Internet Engineering in the Bay Area is the most incestuous career in the USA!

Xbox Live intergration

That sounds like such a fantastic idea to me for some reason.

Anyway, I'm about to jump over to WinMo (a Tilt on AT&T). I'll sorely miss the ease and speed of navigating the sidekick, but I want the features that SK has always needed: WiFi, higher speed data network, and working on a carrier that gets damn reception in my area.

If MS purchasing Danger can help Danger negotiate with AT&T, I'd be one super happy camper.
