You can get it on a contract with Docomo - then it will roam.
If you buy it SIM free - apparently the PSS SIM will allow some kind of connectivity, but no one has confirmed it really yet.

Hello, I live in Canada and I saw Docomo has FOMA SH905i. I know normally docomo phones can't be used outside of japan but on their website it says "compatible with 3G/GSM" so I was wondering if it's possible now to get it and use it in Canada.

Well I have one right in my pocket... If you are used to the Softbank Sharps you might not really like it at all though...
Could you elaborate on that?Originally Posted by DSFX
The interface is obviously the largest difference - Docomo use symbian.
If that's the main reason why some might not like the phone, then I don't think I'll mind. Pretty used to Nokia's, so Symbian's are totally fine with me.Originally Posted by martindesu
Hawt phone though.
i dont think its symbian as in the nokias, but using symbian, but with japanese style ui not sure how to explain
Symbian is an OS which has different UIs applied to it. Nokia uses S60 as one of them, SE uses UIQ, and DoCoMo has their own thing going, if I'm reading all this right.![]()

Yes - it looks nothing like nokias - it just powers it.
Softbank have a UI layout - Docomo do too. It's different. I am sure AL9999 will explain![]()
Ya Symbian is just the underlying OS, apart from probably making the responsiveness of the phone slower, you wouldn't really know it was running Symbian. That is of course unless, it's running a user interface known to work with Symbian, such as S60 or UIQ.
Anyway, what DSFX meant was the user interface, not the OS. All DoCoMo phones have the same style of Japanese phone UI that has been around since the early mova phone i-mode days - and it's very hard to learn how to use because settings and options are scattered all over the place. They all don't appear to be organised very well; to me the Softbank Sharp UI is far better organised and easier to pick up (maybe because it was based on SE's world phone UI).

I don't find the Docomo ones too bad - but it can be a bit of a maze. The Softbank phones are easy to navigate, that's for sure.
Just curious has anyone here personally tried using the sim hack with this mobile (sh905i)?
not yet (that I know of at least)
What's the going rate for the phone? I saw this aucton http://cgi.ebay.com/Sharp-SH905i-fir...QQcmdZViewItem Ebay, but think its a bit too much.
The Symbian that is used on DoCoMo's is called MOAV, I believe. And yes, it's quite different to SB/Vodafone UI.Originally Posted by KBoardBox
