When I see something labelled WM or Blackberry, I don't jump to tethering with laptops, I think on-device. And ultimately, on those devices, what are you going to do besides Email, IM, Text or Browse.

There are no expired or retentions plans being mentioned. $30 and $45 are on their website for everyone. No need to go back and forth, I'm not only comparing these plans against the now unavailable $15, but also the very available $30 and $45.

Yes, I meant for the %100 percent data. I was not correct in the way I phrased it.

You are right Rogers users didn't get a good deal, they got a Great deal.
Okay, so let's talk about this deal.

From what I can tell, this is aligning the $65/1Gig PC Card plan and the $65/1Gig mobile phone and making it 'okay' to have the $65/1gig on your phone.

You know yourself that this option could be snuck onto a phone well before these ones were hinted at, other than the fact that there is a tiered system what's changed?

The 1Gig was there before. You go over, you're into the next overage protection bracket. All they are doing are scaling for the lesser data buckets, but the average windows mobile user will probably fall into their $50 dollar bracket.

Sorry Dylan, no offence, but I don't see this as a great new plan, just allowing what it seems was not really intended by offering it on the phone and charging people less (not by much) if they fall into the 60->499Meg bracket.

Sorry if I seem snippy... I'm tired

    Right again.

    I'm on Telus' $15 unlimited email/IM/browsing and I used about 70MB in the past 2 1/2 weeks...
Browsing using built in IE and opera mini, viewing some youtube videos, downloading/using google maps, browsing HTC touch development forums and downloads cab files. and this is light usage actually. about 30-50mins a day.
When I first got this plan and the Touch, I used up 100MB in 5 days of light/medium usage doing a lot of streaming videos (mobitv) and radio in that time. So it's not unthinkable for me to use 1GB in a month if I wanted to.

Actually, when I see a good data plan the first thing I think of is "Yeah baby! Gonna get me a 3G phone and connect that bad boy to my laptop!"

Which is exactly what I did. Out with the PDA, in with the 3G phone/modem + laptop.

Now, to do that on Telus I would have to pay $100 plus voice plan, and the data doesn't even count on-device as well as laptop. Crazy. Too locked down. No thx.
FIDO $56 Smart Plan: Unlimited nationwide talk, global messaging, 2GB data w/ BIS and LTE, value pack
WIND $40 Wish Plan: Unlimited nationwide talk, global messaging, unlimited data w/ BIS, call control

All my posts are my own opinion only and not necessarily that of any of my employers, past or present.

I could be worng but I thought I read that the $15 plan is only for BIS not BES???

So what kind of plan do people currently have at what cost that gets them work Email, yahoo/Gmail email, web browsing, and GPS, Google Maps...??

That's really the question I'm looking for an answer to...

Telus doesn't allow you to use PC access,
Sorry for $100.oo @ Telus you get Unlimited Data in Canada, US & WiFi Hotspots. I use a HTC p4ooo tethered to a Computer or standalone. Used as much as 20 gigs which is 4 times Rogers alotment of data in Canada for the same price.

Do The SMART Correct Ethical Thing Mr. Harper.
Stop the so called rescue of Mobilicity by Telus and early spectrum transfers

selling the spectrum to an incumbent does not come up until September of 2014

Never been argued, in fact, if you re-read my comments, you will see that I agree with this. Tethering will allow the user to go nuts and use more MBs.

I have 130Megs of data (on Telus' network, I switch to Wifi when I get home and put ALOT more on it) that disagrees that this is not an on-device data plan. As I mentioned before, beyond IM, Text Messaging, E-mail and Web Browsing, what more is there to do with data on-device.

I'm sure we could get into FTP servers, client apps, remote desktops (ouch) and various things, but really, the previous 4 are the mainstays of what the average user would do with a device.

Neither of us will budge on our opinions because we are both talking about what is better for US.

We may as well be arguing about whether GSM or CDMA is better or Windows Mobile or Blackberry, there is no correct answer, it is simply what is better for each user.

Like I said before if the Telus data plan is good for you then great. For me the new Rogers ones are WAY better.

    Cheers.

BIS or BES has nothing to do with it, you can get corporate Email on BIS or BES.

Like I said Any BB data plan (not Email plan) will suit your needs.

I had to go looking for that one Thanks for pointing that out:

    http://www.telusmobility.com/on/busi...ate_plan.shtml

This does not exclude tethering and would only get you 3 to 5 gigs on the Rogers plans that are being considered.

    :
$30.oo for Unlimited Device data is what is called Budgeting. Unlimited Streaming, Browsing, Email, DLs & lM with no Horror Bills at the end of the month.

Don't know where you got this info about not being able to use the Unlimited data plans with phones as l have been doing it since the launch of the KING RZR on Telus & for more than a year been using the same plan tethering with PDAs (6700, 700wx & p4000) when l choose not to use the included Unlimited WiFi. Current $100.oo Unlimited includes Data also stateside.

Yes I am fully aware you CAN, but it's not officially available and most people can't.

In any case, not worth jumping through hoops to pay more for a gig or two on Telus than I would ever use on Rogers/Fido...
