So here's my big question.
I use my Berry for data only, no voice. I'm willing to sign a contract to get my bill down to $15 a month, but will they pull their minimum $75 voice/data crap on me?
If so, this is useless.

So wait..
You can use BB's for strictly data and not need a voice plan?
Yeah unless otherwise stated. The current personal email plan needs voice but business email plans can be added without voice.
I know that but what is the 10MB beside the m2m personal email & bb messenger for?Originally Posted by seaners
Maybe I'm not understanding what you're asking. These new plans are only available on a 3 year and the $15 tear gets the first 10mb of data included.Originally Posted by WildDisease
The $15 Unlimited Personal Email/Messenger plan you are talking about doesn't come with any data. It's just for unlimited email (with attachments) and instand messenging.
Sorry if I missed something...please explain if I did.
I think he's referring to the month-to-month/no contract required plans that O_ssie posted about:Originally Posted by seaners
WildDisease, the 10mb would include any other data you use, whether it's from browsing, BB maps, etc. (Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.)Originally Posted by O_ssie
I've been assuming the "WM" category would include my PalmOS Treo, but I guess you never know. Anyone know if "WM" is just a marketing term, or do they really mean it?Originally Posted by EChid
Difference is TDMA (for EDGE/GPRS) and CDMA (for UMTS/HSDPA) versus OFDM(A) for the WiMAX-like technology Rogers and Bell use for their Innukshuk network. OFDMA is a much, much more spectrally efficient air interface method.Originally Posted by pepper99
Sure the cost difference isn't as high as Rogers is making it out to be with the price differences, but there are significant differences between the air interface technologies.
If this is true, this is VERY good news. I currently pay $65 for the 1 GB plan but I usually use around 20 MB a month. That means that, with the value pack discount, I can get away with paying $10/month for 20 MB, a $55 savings!
I must say, I am pleased with this change. It's clear that Rogers is FINALLY getting serious about data.
Just thought these should be together so everybody is on the same page. Thanks O_ssie!!

ALL OLD PLANS GRANDFATHERED
ALL PLANS WILL NOT CONFLICT WITH $20 COMM PACK
Discontinued Plans
-------------------
Blackberry Voice & Data
WM Voice & Data
PC Card Plan
Unlim Data for 3Months Promotion
UPDATES AND CLARIFICATIONS
1. Plans will be rolling out one week later than expected: March 25th. As usual, all training materials will be released to dealers and agents one week prior to the official release.
2. The Blackberry Flex plan and the WM flex plan will now include unlimited messenger + personal email (Rogers Yahoo!, Yahoo Mail!, Google gmail, MSN, Hotmail, AOL, or POP3/IMAP account through your Internet Service Provider)
3. $20 Comm Pack Conflict / When these new plans come into affect, customers will have the choice of adding either "$20 Comm Pack with unlim WAP" (what we have now) OR "$20 Comm Pack with no DATA". This plan will not be advertised to the general public but dealers and reps will be educated on this. If a customer already has the $20 Comm Pack and then wants to add-on the Blackberry Flex Plan, the rep will have to replace the current $20 comm pack with the new '$20 comm pack with no data' package and then add on the bb flex plan. They have to advise the customer of proration & that they are 'disabling the Unlim WAP portion of the package'
4. The two flex plans described in the first post have a 3 yr data commitment associated to them with no exceptions. (Data Cancellation Fee = Data ECF= DECF= $5/month for remaining months to a max of $100 and a min of $25) This however will not affect your voice commitment.
ex. You have 3 months left on you voice commitment and want to get the BB Flex Plan. 6 months down the line you port your number to another provider. your total cancellation fees would amount to $100+tax ($0 Voice + $100 Data)
This is also applies for data-only customers
5. The overages of $0.03/MB and $0.05/MB described in the first post is only if you go over the final tier.
Example, You have the BB Flex plan and you use 10.001MB - You would be charged $30 - no threshold
6. Rogers will be introducing new month-to-month data plans for BB, WM, Non-Rogers and Tethering:
Blackberry Data Plans - Monthly
$15 - 10MB BIS/BES ~ Overage: $2.00/MB w/ Overage Protection
$30 - 50MB BIS/BES ~ Overage: $1.00/MB w/ Overage Protection
$50 - 200MB BIS/BES ~ Overage: $0.50/MB w/ Overage Protection
Non-Rogers & WM Data & Tethering - Monthly
$15 - 20MB ~ Overage: $2.00/MB w/ Overage Protection
$30 - 60MB ~ Overage: $1.00/MB w/ Overage Protection
$50 - 500MB ~ Overage: $0.50/MB w/ Overage Protection
(If you want more data without overages - only choice is 3yr WM flex plan)
All Plans include unlimited Personal Email + Messenger
7. The pay-per-use for data right now is $0.05/kb. Effective March 25th, this will change to $5/MB
8. All data plans stated above can take advantage of the 33% percent discount when added with a Communicate or Every Call Value Package.
Example You have the $20 Comm Pack + BB Flex Plan. You use 40MB. You would be charged: $20 (comm pack) + $30 (BB Flex) -$10 (33% off the BB Flex) = $40

Great news. Are we to assume this will be released on Fido at the same time, much like the current $7 plan was?Originally Posted by Tyler QB

My Plans x2 (Fido): $67 unlim w 2gig & VPk (-$10credits.each) = $57+tax
These "new Data plans" still suck.

Sounds good.
I can not wait to see the new rates posted on the Rogers web page.
What is the rate for US Data roaming?
