    Blocking a caller...

Hey guys. Can I block a caller on my iPhone, some times I get a call in the middle of the night from this one number and it hangs up after one ring, when I call back nothing happens, it rings once and beeps. So is there a way to block that phone number?

I dont think the iPhone can do this, and I also believe there are no third party apps. to do this. I could be wrong though.

another user had the same problem and what he did, which I found was cool, was , created a ringtone that was blank and assigned it to that number.
so when he calls you don't hear it.

There is an app called iSMS that is being developed with a blacklist for SMS and for calls. However, those features have yet to be implemented. A jailbroken phone is required. See here for more info and the Installer source: http://code.google.com/p/weisms/ .

That method will not stop the phone from vibrating however. It's too bad Apple doesn't have a separate "Silent" setting that can be applied to the contact... that's how my old Motorola worked. Hopefully it's something they'll add eventually.

Yeah, I used to do the same to prevent any blocked calls from ringing/vibrating... I'd love to be able to do the same on my iPhone.

My solution is that I only give out my IP phone number and have my IP phone forward calls to my iPhone, then if I get a unwanted call I block them within my IP phone.

For those that do not have a IP phone I think Grand Central (which was bought by Google) might solve it.

I block all calls without caller-id, if they were people that really wanted to connect with me then they could *82 OR *67 to get through.

I spoke with the developer of MagiCall (WM) and asked if they would support the iPhone. They said that they had to get their hands on the SDK and see which APIs were needed. If everything worked out they would.

MagiCall is a smart, rule based filter software for SMS filtering and dual-way calls filtering. It gives you the ability to block unwanted callers with SMS replies. It can also add prefixes automatically in front of the original called numbers or hang them up depending on your settings. In addition, you can take control of incoming SMS and more!

Is there any way through ATT to do this? I have someone who texted me by accident, then apparently decided it would be fun to torment someone he'd never met. I can't set a silent ringtone to a specific person/number for SMS, and I don't have unlimited text. I keep meaning to ask at the store when I go in to pay my bill but they're always super busy. He's not doing nearly as much lately but I still get something every few days and I'd just as soon never hear from this guy again.
