MobiTv and HowardForums *Situation is now resolved*

The security update is not a patch; it's a whole new architecture. New client app, new server behavior, authentication, possibly encryption.

This kind of thing can't be just "coded and launched." It's written, debugged, tested in the lab, tested in the wild, and then launched. Documentation has to be written, CSRs have to be trained, etc.

Implementing all this will take a lot of time, and in the meantime millions of people know the story. I think it's a race between the network lawyers who are riding on their dark horses to MobiTV's gates, and the technical team.

OH WAIT THE TECH TEAM JUST GOT FIRED

Which means that MobiTV has to start by hiring new tech guys. Ouch; you won't see these streams go down for months. And what brings the streams down may well be the death of MobiTV.

hmm, maybe they should call on us to debug it, since we are apparently such good debuggers...

Then MAYBE the jackasses who contacted you SHOULD have said; "Hey, Howard... help us out here.. we're trying to contain a security breach.. it's our fault we didn't secure this part of our service better but in the MEAN time could you PLEASE take down this data in the posting...?"

I wouldn't be surprised if they look for beta testers from within the HoFo community. I don't think many of us are willing to cooperate with MobiTV to test their new websight (sorry, couldn't resist) right now, but maybe some will change their minds once things cool down.
