The front cove doesn't appear to have any screw covers?
Also, do you know where ther are picks of this?
Thanks
Louis
I don't know where you're looking, but there are six of them on the back side of the lower half of the phone and four on the inside of the upper flip assembly....
I appreicate your help. I do see the 6 square covers on the back of the phone, do I just pry all six covers off with a small screw driver?
I have looked at the flip( top part of the phone) but do not see the 4 you refer to? exactly where are these 4?
Thanks again for you help it's greatly appreciated.

I stand corrected. I was thinking about the original Katana's upper flip. The Katana II's flip has no visible screws, which means one of two things is the case. Either the screws are concealed under the main LCD window (not likely; a heat gun would allow for the removal of the lens) or the assembly simply snaps together (more likely).
Of all the Katana II's I open in the course of a week, I've never had to get into the upper flip assembly.
You are correct about the screw covers on the back. They are little plastic squares with a dab of adhesive to hold them to the top of the screws. We use a simple dental pick in the service centers to lift them out, but they're virtually impossible to remove without causing some cosmetic damage to them.
Thanks again for this help. Want I want to do is exchange the inside electronics out of both halfs as there is damange to both halfs. I have done this in the past with the sony scp5300 & mm7400. These both had screws
on the receiver piece.
If there is any other insite you might have I apprecaite it.
Thanks
You could take the entire flip assembly from one phone and put it on the other. On most Sanyos you need a special tool to pop the hinges out of the flip assembly, but the upper flip simply plugs in to the lower half of the phone via a ribbon cable that snaps to the main board. Easy enough to swap. No need to actually open the top of the phone.Originally Posted by jppcoast
Hi KG4PEQ,
Are you saying that the black ribbon cable coming from the top section of the phone has a connector that plug into the main pcb?
Is it required to purchase the top portion of the phone to change out the black ribbon cable?
Can you supply the name of a vendor for the ribbon cable, mic, and key pad?
I have another few questions:
1. Is there a way to remove just the key pad, or do you need to replace the keypad and plastic assembly as a whole?
2. Can you supply the name of a vendor for the ribbon cable, mic, and key pad?
3. Do you need to replace the black ribbon cable/camera pcb as an assembly?
I no longer need the answers to the following:
I found out how to to remove the black ribbon cable from the main pcb.
I found out how to remove the hinges.
