Can I activate any Telus phone on Koodo?

I have an LG 8600 which I would prefer to use.
    I ordered a w385 because I had to online

Can I return the w385 and get my LG 8600 on the account?

Sorry as much as we would love to let you put your own phone on the network just like with any CDMA carrier (Verizon is still experimenting with going more open) you need to get a Koodo phone to work with Koodo.

A lot of stuff is hard coded into the phone and we have only built software for the 3 models that we sell.

does Koodo use a proprietary UI on its phones like Telus?
does it create the same issues as the Telus ones in terms of lowering the overall functionality of the phone?

Koodo is not just TELUS, it is run separately with its own customer service, marketing, pricing, and devices. Does it use the TELUS/Bell CDMA network? Yes, but definately not just TELUS.

for a self appointed Rep of Koodo Mobile, you are doing a terrible Job of answering questions,

Mr. Van asked if your Phones are crippled with a new User Interface, disabled features of certain phone functions, and you replied with a generic response. I hope that you are not an example of what awaits customers of your new and wonderful service.

    Your statement is odd.

In the papers it has stated that Koodo is the Telus Fighter Brand - just like Solo is the Bell Fighter brand. Solo = Bell. Solo is run out of Bell Mobility head office in Mississauga.

Where is Koodo run out of? Where is your HQ?

As for the Networks used - well even Telus uses the Bell network

ok Koodo is a separate company. Having worked for Futureshop in the past I get arguments all the time about how some jerk customer can't claim their Best Buy warranty at a Futureshop location. ITS NOT THE SAME God damnit. Who cares if they are sharing the same bloody towers. Who cares if they sharing the same bloody HQ building. Chances are the Koodo staff would sit on one end of the building and Telus staff would sit on the other end just like they do at FS and BB HQ, and they both work independently. fido rogers, solo, bell, telus using bell..uhh..err.. what bull **** is this?!?!? Why do you people have to go on complicate things. Sure one owns the other but they both work independently thats IT! Different legal and privacy policies different trade marks. I am not siding Koodo mobile here but what the hell! What is it with customers and applying their own philosophy onto reps of companies who they have no internal information about. You people are reminding me of the dumb Futureshop days.

GOD... stupid discussion in the middle of the night right when I am cranky.

Koodo is NOT just another company. It is completely and wholely owned by Telus. It uses the same Telus phones (with different firmware) and i suspect it's even the same PRL.

There is no technical reason why Telus->Koodo is not possible, other then that Telus wants it that way. This is going to piss a LOT of people off. At least a Fido phone can be unlocked and brought to Rogers.

Can you move a Bell phone to Solo and vice versa? Last time i checked you could...

The concept of Kodoo is cool, but with stuff like this and the TOTALLY weak phones, it's not exactly a strong start out of the gate.

The whole idea of the Kodoo brand was to get the youth market, and the #1 thing young people are concerned about is the phone itself. They will pay rediculous monthly bills as long as the phones are new and have features with the bling factor.

I really don't know what Telus was thinking on this one...
