I couldn't have said it better myself...yet people still think that they can reinvent the wheel and do it...If there is someone out there that is so bright and can do it please show all of us cavemen how. Otherwise stop posting the same things over and over!

Why haven't you already purchased an Unlocked Sidekick LX already?
Never even knew people on the Fido Hiptop data option still use it with a Hiptop 2.

    Anyway,

    http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-UNLOCKED-SID...QQcmdZViewItem

Wizard Of Oz is probably the most reputable HARD CABLE unlocked Sidekick seller on eBay. I purchased mine from another seller called "pumacel" a while a go but at $450. But at $400, you cannot go wrong with Oz's price right now.

Then what you will do is simply insert your Fido SIM in the LX, and go into the Network Options and change the APN to "fido.danger.com" user name and password will be "dummy" and your data should work.

i had my sidekick lx, got rid of it months ago but i will say and say it again, data is unlocked when you buy it from ebay, all you have to do is change the APN settings, ive actaully bought 2, one for me and one for my friend. My friend is still using it while i switched out to the iPhone then the HTC TyTN II, dumb move actually, now fido does not carry the unlimited hiptop plan anymore, its a "grandfather option" we canadians all have to wait until t-mobile hits canada in 2010 (rumors say)

No no... The auctioning bid over.
    Canadian spectrum auction
I believe the remaining stream of network were bought out by Rogers and Telus and a big company named Yak that bought more nothern rights with Quebec.
I dont know why rogers wants more spectrum, dont they have enough...
    Sorry guys

Sorry I'm not familiar with the terminology. Does this mean they can't come in for 2009 and 2010... or forever.

It means that T-mobile will not come.

but when Telus becomes GSM then there is a chance that the sidekick might come, or bell for that mater...
    just a chance.

Actually, that's not correct. T-Mobile is scheduled to start offering service in Canada around the beginning of July in 2009. I have spoken to many people at T-Mobile about this and read a while back. They're not buying into a new spectrum and are sticking with the current GSM stuff like Rogers/Fido currently use. The Boy Genius article posted in this thread is correct. The deal has already received government approval for an 18 month probationary period.

Well for all Sidekick lovers, that's great news. Since T-Mobile is big company hopefully voice plans and data plans will drop too.
