I love how every thread these days turns into a big data pricing/comparison *****ing fest.
Mid-November, 2007 - Bell releases HTC Touch with $7 dollar unlimited on device mobile browsing.
Since then, Telus released a $15 dollar unlimited on-device mobile browsing with 3 phones.
Since then, Telus unleashed the same $15 dollar plan to all devices.
Since then, Telus has released a plan which actually states that there is unlimited on-device mobile browsing for $30 and $45. But getting rid of the $15 dollar version of the plan.
All of the above gave a fast and furious feel to all carrier forums on this board.
Voice plans are old news, if you are a customer, you can get a plan which is roughly what you want, and then work with Retentions to tailor it to your needs.
On Howardforums, data is the current focus, who can get the best deal that includes unlimited or close to it for the lowest price. 1Gig is pretty much unlimited, 1Gig for $100 dollars is a rip-off, any way you want to carve it.
Rogers wants to consider itself a "premium player", however, the only thing they have to do with premiums currently seems to be delivering services "at a premium".
It sounds like the $65 plan has already been locked down to PC Cards. I remember reading that as of the last week or two, the CSR's won't give it to you if you have a phone number on the account.

I disagree
THe network is excellent and the technology that drives it works.
The pricing is ridiculous, but that's already been beaten to death
to say rogers isn't a premium carrier is short sighted I think.
Threy have the right to label themselves as a premium carrier.
why are the clearnetst network adds still running despite lawsuits from competition.
HSDPA tech, 7.2 announced
Devices like the K850 for high end cell users
Data devices
USB and Express aircards.
If you put pricing aside and look, actually look, you'll probably agree with me.
Is there any benefit of having the $11 Comm Pack or Every Call Pack grandfathered? To me, the new $11 Value Pack is essentially the two combined for the same cost...
I was thinking the same thing.

You can still get $65 -1 gb plan, its not locked down. Why even bother calling customer service and go around in circles with them, just click on manage my account on rogers.com then manage my wireless services --> update essentials- under mobile internet - add $65 pc card plan.
I'm a little confused... For the Mega Incoming plans they cap the incoming minutes at 500?? That's a friggen joke if that's true, and there's going to be a lot of hesitant customers signing up to that plan :/
EDIT: I just saw that the cap was for the $25 plan lol But I still think that's a joke

i cannot see mobile internet in my options.go figure ???
Of course you CAN add the $65 plan, but nobody knows if it'll be tracked and enforced eventually resulting in very large bills. Use at your own risk.

All my posts are my own opinion only and not necessarily that of any of my employers, past or present.
I really hope Rogers doesn't do something stupid like start billing us for data when we're on the PC Flex Rate plan. I can see those fools doing something like that. It's all about greed and money.
Tell you guys what...I'll keep dishing out $65/month for my 1GB, but if Rogers charges me for data beyond that, I just won't pay. They can take me to court over it if they want. I have months and months of existing bills showing I was never billed for it. It's up to them to make sure the services they are selling me are compatible with my hardware. There's no difference between some stupid/useless data modem connected to my PC, and my N95-3 tethered via USB cable. Both are HSDPA on 3.5G and both connect me to the same network at the same speed. There's no difference whatsoever. Oh wait...my phone is more useful to me than a stand-alone data card which I cannot carry in my pocket or make phone calls with.
Right now I'm a pretty happy customer, but should they invoice me for data when I'm already paying for it, we're going to dance. Ted Rogers will get a bag of flaming poop on his doorstep.
LOL, $400 for 20mb international data...while on Tmobile, I pay $20 for the unlimited international data addon..
Dude I have a serious feeling you're going to make a LOT of money because you have a stable US address if TMobile doesn't prevent you to go back to the US borders while roaming endlessly in Canada.
We'll see how those rates in the infamous data thread fair when the Auction is all said and done this May ... and the winners of the largest spectrum are NOT any Canadian provider and IF foreigners have discrete intention to get their OWN network setup!
If T-Mobile can provide me better rates for voice/data calls (unlimited for a set fee(s)) I will switch to them, and gladly pay ECFs with Rogers. It just makes sense to pay less money for the same service, on the same towers... Getting a US address is as easy as a mail drop.
Rogers should really re-think their greed. It's going to cost them...but then again, Canadian consumers tend to be lazy and uneducated on these retail/cost issues.
