Info you need before buying a new phone?

I understand that when you buy a new phone from sprint, you have to activate it from the store in order to use your account. unlike on tmobile or att where you just put the sim card in and your account is there.

My question is: what do u need to know before buying a new phone from Sprint? what questions will they ask you? etc.

They'll ask question that the account holder would know.

You should also be able to buy a phone (without a discount) without any account info.

It's pretty inconsistent, but I believe the official policy in the retail channel is not to sell a "cold" (unactivated) phone at all, be it CDMA or iDEN. They have to be placed on an account to leave the store.

That may be dated info or not, but if it is the policy, don't count on it being consistently implemented across all stores. YMMV.
