You won't see those settings unless you have a winmo phone.

    Any idea ???????
If your T-zones proxy workaround wasn't done correctly, your e-mail access may still work. When I was on $5.99 T-zones I had e-mail access and when I finally got the proxy to work, my e-mail stopped working. Are you sure you have the settings right for the workaround?

I think everybody who is complaining here had the T-Zones workaround working for a while before it suddenly stopped.

I forgot about that. My settings have been working for only a little over a month. Aren't there other third parties that offer a similar deal for cheap internet via a proxy server? A friend once told me he uses a service called something like 1-2-3 Easy to get internet for $6 or less.

The T-Zones Hack is simply quite silly. I can understand why people want to use it. I even tinkered with it on a line that had T-Zones just to see if it would work, and it did, most of the time.

But I personally value a data connection more if it works reliably and quickly everytime I use it. The T-Zones hack does incur a performance hit going through the T-Mobile HTTP to WAP Proxy. It's also simply not worth the $15 savings to me to need to access some data, discover there is a problem, and have to spend all day trying to figure out how to fix the problem or even worse, find out I literally cannot access it. I mean we are talking about an additional cost of only 50 cents a day for peace of mind. Priceless!

T-Mobile is the only wireless carrier that has true unlimited internet. All other carriers are capping at 5GB. In addtition, T-Mobile unlimited data is much cheaper than anything offered by other carriers even for the 3G trials.

I see your point but it works all the time for me and it's pretty fast. I'm riding this thing out until the bitter end.

SMILE - you make me laugh and although I admire your trooper attitude I still beg to differ.

Hmm - I'm pretty sure some of the ports are blocked with the T-Zones hack. So there will always be things you can't do. Can you stream audio and video? T-Zones places a maximum on certain ports or something so streaming either does not work or fails after a few megabytes.

Perhaps I'm wrong and the hack has gotten ever better. Good luck with that one - LOL!

No I can't stream video and music but for $5.99 what do you expect? (I use wifi for youtube and music) I was just using it for email mostly but there's not much I can't do on the internet with the proxy. If it was giving me problems I would just upgrade to the $19.99 plan but, I haven't had any. It's not the same experience for everyone though and everyone is not going to want to learn all I've learned about using the proxy.

BTW, I can't imagine streaming quality of video and music over EDGE would be worth $19.99 anyway.

Well like I said, good luck with that. I wasn't trying to be mean or anything. Many decades of information technology have taught me that it's best to do things right upfront, it prevents a lot of problems down the road. These days everyone thinks they know technology because they can turn it on, plug it in or search it on the net. Oh well, but I must admit that the hack can be useful for some. Good luck.

I would just like to say a little something apart from the threads I've had with the admirably enthusiastic shawn -

Many people are using the T-Zones hack perhaps thinking they are blazing the criminal trail, saving money and immersing themselves among the technical elite. But I would wager that most of these are quite young individuals because the savings simply do not justify cost of the problems created. It's kind of like breaking your TV to see how it works when you could have just bought a good book or went to school and still watched TV when you wanted.

I can stream audio and video on my T-Zones plan no problem. And I haven't hit any limits either. I've had it stream NASATV for nearly an hour with no hiccups, I've also done radio for over and hour with no problems.

The only problem i've had with the Proxy is that it can sometimes be unreliable, just random outages (but hey its 70% off! ). Also some programs don't work well with the proxy (Shozu, SkyFire, TinyTweet.....)

Otherwise for the rest of us who are grown adults and don't want to overpay the $20 fee for the full internet plan its great!

Can you really be any more full of yourself??? Really??? We're all god damned geeks on a forum dedicated to cell phones and how to modify them. Just that your wasting your time here is just as bad as anybody who spends the 15min one afternoon setting up the proxy.

Secondly, your wasting your time with your elitest attitude talking down to people who are trying to save a bit of money and increase the usefulness of their phone's. Who is the more pathetic? Really? Why waste your precious time. Next time just skip the thread and move on. Let us pitiful minions deal with our proxies and save our $14 a month that you can just throw around because your a baller...

On the proxy tab, check both boxes but leave the proxy server box blank.

Click on the Advanced tab, and make sure the proxy and port are correct: 216.155.165.50:1080 (not 8080). Just continue by skipping all the next pages and save. Come back to the screen below.

Now click on "New" under the 2nd drop down box. (or just use the existing My Work Connection)

Under the "General" tab, name it something if new (My Work Connection)

Click on the "Modem" tab and create a new modem connection. Name it something. (lower modem connection). The modem name will be "wap.voicestream.com" Skip Net VPN, click on Proxy tab. Check both boxes and enter the proxy in the proxy server box. 216.155.165.50
Now click on the Advanced tab.

Make sure the upper and lower proxy's are the same but the port for HTTP should be 8080 and the SOCKS port should be 1080 at the bottom. Save and internet and email should work (after you set up your email, that is)
