    Moto Phone Tools?

I hope this is the right place for this question.

I recently got a V9m, and I've been trying to get MPT to work all night. I install it, but then it won't recognize my phone. I have version 4, which doesn't have the V9m as one of it's listed compatible phones, but I did the updates. When it gets to the part where it connects to my phone (via cable) it says my phone isn't supported.

What's the deal? Help me please?

Version 4.5.6a is purported to support
    V9m and V9mm, V9mS,MOTORAZRV9, and V9mc models
    according to "Detect.inf" file, http://www.bvrpforums.com/mptlookup
and (long nasty url at motorola.com) http://preview.tinyurl.com/4qcn6y

After I updated MPT, the v9m was still not included in the list of phones. I resorted to V3m setup and it worked OK transferring names and tel numbers only via bluetooth. I have not tried to transfer any other fields.

I got it to work after, ta da! I read the manual...I didn't have my phone on "modem/com" setting during the initial setup, so it didn't recognize my phone. Also, the usb cable that came with it is crappy and only works some of the time. For file transfer, the phones is set to "usb" and I use a different cable...

    Verizon K1M and MPT

I cannot get the MPT (fully updated) to load contacts from Outlook to my Verizon K1M. I keep getting a bogus "not enough memory in the phone" message. I did manage to manually load one contact, but when I try to manually load a second ( any of my contacts) I again get the "not enough memory" message. I could manually load my outlook calender, but nothing works in the auto mode. I ran the driver fixer, and unloaded MPT and reloaded and re-updated it, and got exactly the same results. I can fat finger all day on the phone with no problem, with or without the 2GB microchip added. Any ideas out there?

    Never mind

My wifes V9m works fine, and sounds a great deal clearer, so this KRZR goes back for an exchange to a V9m. Thanks anyway.

    Unhappy MPT Software Update...

Have they made updates to the Mobile Phone Tools software to disallow overriding your phone model?

I stupidly installed the recommended software update this morning, and suddenly my Multimedia Tools option is gone, and it won't let me install a different phone unless the phone is actually connected. (Leaving the phone off just sits at the "connect your phone" screen indefinitely.)

    I'm heartbroken! I'm only 6 months into my 2-year contract... PLEASE tell me I'm just doing something wrong.... ;_;

No, you're not doing something wrong. And Yes, you can do something about it. The solution, I think, is in changing the phone's internal ID string with a seem edit. Or in editing the detect.inf file in MPT's directory.

    Check out this thread:
    http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=1377531

It's complicated and has a lot of stuff for the maxx VE but I think you'll find what you need for the V9m.

Also check out http://mark.cdmaforums.com/V9M.htm. These how-to's were written before MPT stopped allowing you to manually select your phone. But all the info you need is on that site. Read carefully.

Lastly, search the forums. The solution exists but it's harder than it used to be.

    Good luck!
