It was coming up time to replace my W53CA and since I go abroad a couple of times a year I made the switch to Docomo. I went in today with the intention to get the SH906i, but after getting my hands on it in the store, I had to pass. The keypad is way too small, and it doesn't make a lot of sense since there is so much wasted space on the bottom. The interface itself was nice and snappy, except for the touch screen interface which is utterly forgettable and sort of embarrassing given current technology. The little touch sensor in the keypad is great when using the full-browser, but in regular menu-navigation it needs to die a horrible death.

I tried out all the 906i phones they had available and finally settled on the F906i. I'm more into the rotating hinge screens than the side-leaners, but the Fujitsu was just too good to pass up. The interface is up to par with the sharps' out there, and the quick search combined with navigation controls in the fingerprint scanner really pushed it over the top.
Thanks for the feedback on that, interested in your feedback about they keypads. Good to hear the SH906i has a quick UI.

Hmm.. I watched the SH906i video on Youtube regarding the touch screen and I have to say it is rather disappointing. Hopefully they'll release some newer firmware to speed up things a bit. According to the SH906i CM, it's supposed to go really quick and that "white spot" shown on youtube videos is supposed to be replaced by the preview of the next picture as if you were really viewing a photo album. I'm not sure why it didn't show up that way on youtube (perhaps the user didn't customize it).

This is LG Prada in Japan and I have to say it's touch interface is very impressive. Take a look at how fast the thumbnails load and how responsive the interface is with regards to rotation of the photos. It's UI is pretty amazing and I have to say that Sharp isn't doing a good job on this release =/

I have to say the TS performance does make me hesitate a bit as far as getting a SH906i is concerned, though I will probable still get one.

A little off-topic, but I noticed that the Prada phone in Japan is 3G-only. Kind of odd goven it's sold with GSM almost everywhere else.

well I think it's because Japan has a stronger 3G network than GSM. Given that this phone is readily available all over the world, it wouldn't make much sense for them to build a GSM receiver on it although it sounds kinda stupid cause that's almost saying "we dont' expect Japanese people to be leaving japan anytime soon with this phone."

Same in the UK with the Viewty the 3G version is very common unlike the 2G version because the UK now has a fairly mature 3G network.

Japan does not have a GSM network at all.

Maaaan I want the Sh906i sooooo baaaad. It looks so sexy. I'm almost willing to sacrifice good reception, reliability, and features that my n95 has for that phone.

A seller in HK already put it on ebay for Ł349.99 for SH906i, P906i, F906i and Ł379.99 for N906i ... not sure why it cost more for N905i probably because of the AF camera.

It says it is unlocked using hypersim...

Isn't a good idea to leave getting keitais a couple of months to make sure any faults are worked out of the firmware?

I must say I'm most impressed by the sh906i design wise it is a real beauty especially turned around, don't feel the need for a hinge since it has touchscreen so you can change channels etc. Donno about the rest in that mode though, really not much use for the touch screen the way the phone is made except that, isnt much to do with the phone turned over kinda. But it's really sleek, though the p906i is just awesome I must say am greatly impressed with it especially the gundam game is soooo cool just awesome to play around with that phone.
