Hi! N00b here..
I've been looking at getting a Japanese phone for a while now..
I've been researching lots and lots and this forum has been incredibly helpful!
So thanks for all the guides and information!

Finally today just by chance I found a bargain on ebay and decided to buy it

As you can probably guess it's a P906i

A few things I haven't been able to find out though, which hypersim would be best for unlocking the phone to work in the UK?
I'm not even too bothered about 3g web browsing ect..
I just want it to work as a phone with sms too! (3g would be nice though if thats possible in the UK!)
I think UK uses GSM 900/1800?? Also not sure if it makes any difference but i'm on Orange.

Apart from that, it doesn't come with a charger.. does anybody know where I can buy one for the UK..
I can only seem to find american ones, and i'm not sure about voltage adapters ect

Any help would be appreciated!

About the charger you shouldn't worry, as far as I know you can use with p906i any charger compatible with the european sharp mobiles (gx30/ 770sh/ 902 / 903sh) or Panasonic (VS series). Those should fit your p906i too. You should find one easily in your local stores in UK or on ebay. But wait for some other users' confirmation since I don't actually own your phone.

Ohh thats great, I'll hold off buying one online then and take my phone into some local shops see what they have first.. when it arrives that is!

As for the hypersim.. I don't normally trust things that seem too cheap.. but on a site i've used a few times I found a 'i-SmartSim 2008' for $3.48 (am I allowed to link to sites on here?)
And to back it up it has 58 reviews, one of which is from a P906i owner saying it worked fine (On the picture of the product it says 'Ismartphone 2008' instead.. i'm sure i've heard that somewhere before?) haha

The I-smartphone 2008 hypersim should work fine with p906i, or at least that's what was reported back at the beginning of this thread, before you buy one (even if it's quite cheap from what you said) I would suggest to you to read throughly this thread and maybe also p905i guide thread, you may found some useful info about hypersims and if you still have got doubts you can (maybe) ask in the general section for japanese mobiles (but I'm sure you'll find all the answers into this section)

I received it today.. went into a local shop and found a charger!

Yeah Ill just have to find some kind of hypersim now..
Untill then I guess Ill just play about with the phone and try to work out how to use it

Ohh slight update, i've ordered 2 hypersims.. the only 2 on dealextreme

Only about £5 for them both lol, hope atleast one of them works! There are alot of good reviews for them anyway

How usual is it for everything to work perfectly? xD
Received my hypersims today

Put one in, instantly received signal, tried calling my house, worked perfect!
Send a text and got a reply to it!
After reading about all the hassle making them work i'm sure I would have some too, but it seams to be fine


Edit: I'm getting 3g too! But I can't use the browser.. it says 'service not registered'

Most people on here can get 3G working for outgoing but just not incoming.

Ahh okay! I shall check out that one, it shows that I have 3G connection, but no I haven't tried incoming!
